First one looks like the Freeport City bank, hmm this scene looks simillar to the first sin level. Are you going to retell the story of sin in the first episodes? However, some scenes need more details, i know, sin allways had a bit comic look, textures look good actually, but todays machines can handel more polygones in realtime. Yea i know episode 1 is in an early state, so i think they change the detail count of some artwork later, most important elexis gets her needed curves /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks good to me /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Well the cars could use more details, but cars that are supposed to look futuristic often look like that. I'll have to see that in motion before I can say if I like it or not.
Oh and the corpses in the first screen should not float 5cms above the ground. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Something looks off with the magnum, a little too red. I think the orginal SiN magnum looks better. We we tried converting it to Quake3 we had the same problems, never could get it look right, The Sin2ut magnum come over just fine. I think it needs a little more angle so you can see the side better, dull down the Red on it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Im just picky!

based on the blurry effect in that third shot I'd say you sit in a moving vehicle jouring a freeway chase, and everything else is shaping up to be pretty sweet aswell.

Looks nice, though!
I didn't know that characters can look that good in a modified Steam Engine /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Why not, the characters in Half-Life 2 look awesome.
And it's the Source engine, Steam is...well, lets not get into that again. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Hmkay, seeing as the first shot looks pretty bad and inconsistent (low-poly geometry except for curved sections and the characters, modern lighting yet a red carpet texture that looks like '97), I assume it's the Source port of the original SiN?

Yeah, it was a typo. I mean, of course, Source Engine.
Well, for me the HL2 Models didn't look that impressive if I compare them to other games, like Doom³, FarCry etc...

I don't think it's the bank level on the first picture. The corpses look way different from the first SiN and over the doors there's an icon that looks similar to SinTek.
BTW: The screens are ok, but not that great (could need more polygons) /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

your right.
didnt notice that right off
that IS the sintek icon.
the red triangle with the ST type symbol in it.
good eye.
The cars need translucent windows and interiors, IMO. It's 2005.
And the fence in #2 looks an awful lot like a HL2 model ...

not surprising.
same engine.
Using the same engine does not mean they need to use the same art resources.
Note that I may well be mistaken about the fence. Looks like HL2 to me, though.

Personally the HL2 characters look better than the Doom3 and Far Cry characters to me. Maybe the Doom3 characters have more polygons or better texures but the HL2 animation (the eyes and facial animation in particular) looks way more convincing to me.

I'll take dozens of cars with opaque windows on a freeway chase instead of 3-4 cars with transparent windows and fully modelled interiors. Think about it, we've seen "rail-shooter" parts in FPS games before, but usually it's just on some empty dirt trail with a coulpe trucks or tanks or whatever chasing you. Never before has there been an FPS chase scene taking place on a freeway crowded with cars; I'm pumped for the game based on that alone! Rendering all the cars models and their interiors and worrying about multiple level transparencies (e.g. looking through the windows of many cards in a line) would be WAY too much for even top of the line hardware to handle.
Regarding the fence: who cares! It's a stinking fence, how many ways are there to model a fence? As long as they look fine in the game why does it matter if they use a couple objects from HL2?

Thanks for those screenshots...
I agree, Think of all the animations of all the drivers steering the car as the car moves. Besides Tinten windows of the future. About the fence look at the rest of the screenshot you can tell Anti-Aliasing is NOT on, which makes a big difference, also Anisotropic filtering would help too.

Looks like some "Leaked" screenshots, this explains why there is no AA on, and this low res. Can anyone from Ritual dev stuff confirm/deny this speculation?

I can't speak for where the screenshots came from, but I can say that the distortions of the fence can also come from improperly downsampling a large screenshot to a significantly smaller size...
As for any statements from Ritual, well, it's Sunday here...we have to take some time off...

ITS NOT SUNDAY ANYMORE!!!!!!
I just found out why people play World of Warcraft, TO DANCE NAKED AND DRUNK WITHOUT CLOTHES ON AND THE BEAT EACH OTHER UP IN A FIST FIGHT OUTSIDE THE INN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On topic though, are these scanned images from the PC Gamer magazine?? Anyone have the magazine that can look at the images and compare?

Had a quick flick...through PC Gamer magazine a couple of days ago and it looks like the first batch are from the magazine to me. Badman said no scans from PC Gamer, probably including pics. It may not be the case though and the shots may be kicking about on the web somewhere else also.
Anyway they look ok for extremely early shots and will no doubt improve as the game gets closer to completion.
No point knocking the game when its the first ever shots.

It seems there is some confusion about those screenshots here?
I saw these shots on www.sinepisodes.de (http://www.sinepisodes.de) last night and was equally surprised, but the explanation is simple: these screens aren't scans from PC Gamer UK; they are from the DVD of the mag which features a gallery of screens from Sin Episodes (the same screens as in the mag).
These screenshots show the car chase that was discussed in the EuroGamer summary of the PC Gamer article, at http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59937. (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59937) They are from the first episode, it's NOT a port of Sin 1.
There haven't been any other screens on sinepisodes.com or any other German gaming site (I say German because sinepisodes.de seems to become a new fan site for Germany).
I have a friend in the UK who bought the mag for me; it will arrive tomorrow or on Wednesday. Once I have it, I can confirm whether these screens are all the ones seen in the mag or whether some are still missing. I heard that artwork of Blade and JC is in the mag which is obviously not on the DVD!
By the way, LegionPharma has been bought by Thrall Sinclaire and is now called Sinclaire Technologies! The site doesn't offer any different content, though.

They are from the DVD that comes from the UK Edition of PC Gamer. I have it.
