It's not a secret that ATI pushed VALVe to release Half-Life 2 last year, especially after the release of Doom 3 earlier that summer, hence releasing a game that hardly had any enjoyable elements. Postponing the release was not an option for ATI, especially after the whole id Software/Nvidia package deal.
Personally, I still feel that ATI made a huge error in going into business with VALVe, especially after the whole Steam debacle and the source code theft which resulted into a crappy game that still manages to be "Game of the year" almost everywhere . . .

If you think Half-Life 2 is crappy, I very much doubt you´ll like Sin 2 or any other First Person Shooter for that matter.

On the contrairy. I've enjoyed Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Call of Duty and Unreal (Tournament) to name a few. Heck, I even liked the original Half-Life (plus Opposing Force and Blueshift).
Clearly it's not that I don't like FPS games in general, I simply wasn't impressed with Half-Life 2 . . .

Meh, there's a difference between not being impressed bya game and a game being crap, but what the hell. Personally I thought Return to Castle Wolvenstein was a LOT more generic than Half-Life 2.

Half-life 2 SINGLEPLAYER was awesome.
Half-life 2 MULTIPLAYER was non-existant. <- Fatal mistake.
And when Valve finally released MP it was totally rushed (to prevent a mod capitalizing on standard deathmatch and to *improve* sales) and the netcoding was (and still is) obsolete.

I still had some fun throwing toilets at people using the gravity gun though.
Also, with HL2 came CounterStrike Source for free as well, so technically you could consider that HL2´s multiplayer...

The gravity gun is the only fun thing about HL2DM, the rest seriously lacks if you compare it with other on-line FPS games including it's predecessor.

Some people don't like Counter-Strike that much as VALVe has hoped and/or aimed for and a quick Source conversion isn't enough to convince me to play CS:S. I'm more of a Day of Defeat player, but when the Source version will be released remains to be seen. DOD: Source has been listed as "Comming soon" from October last year and that was nine months ago . . .
Apart from any Source ports there is also the issue of cheating. Currently all VALVe games are infested with cheats and with an anti-cheat agent that (simply put) doesn't work, it spoils a lot of fun. I know many good players that have moved from a VALVe game (CS/CS:S) to another game simply because VALVe is unable to combat cheaters at a professional level.

Oh, I agree with all of that, it´s just that I think Half-Life 2´s single player campaign alone is easily worth the price of admission and quite possibly the best FPS single player campaign ever.

I must have played a different game then you did?
Awesomely horrible, and dont ever compare SiN 1 to HL1 because SiN1 was infinitely better. Both HL 1&2 are both the worst games ever. Oh scripted events, oh gravity gun ya they are teh ghey.
I'm hoping they use the same weapon balance and innovation for SiN: episodes.

Yes, apparantly you have played a different Half-life 1 & 2 than the rest of us, because I very much doubt anyone else here would call Half-Life awesomely horrible.
Oh, and Half-Life was no more scripted than SiN was.
