View Full Version : What I would like to see in the Muliplayer

I realize MP isn’t going to be released with the first episode. But here’s a list of things I would like to see when it does get released.

First off, don’t make all kinds of different game types. Stick with the traditional TDM & CTF. Take the Unreal Series of games. They have like 10 different game types and 20 different mutators. Which just divides up the community, which leaves a whole lot of empty servers. I read a interview with CliffyB a few months back, were be basically says he regrets making so many different game types and ways to play them (i.e. Mutators). He gives the example of McDonalds. The reason why it’s so popular, is you can go anywhere in the world and you’re going to me the same. And the less different game types, the more time you have of getting the few you’re doing right.

Now down to the basics
-In game voice (with the option to mute other players)
-HUD Clock
-Tournament mode (i.e. everyone needs to click in before starting the map)
-Warm-up Mode (could work by time limit or everyone clicks in on Tournament Mode)
-In Game Vote Options (i.e. Change Map, Restart & Kick Player
-Colored Names (Let players add colored to their names, i.e. quake)
-Different Style and color Cross Hairs as per weapon (So players can change their cross hairs for different weapons)
-Register your nick (that way nobody can impersonate you and it would be harder to use a ringer in matches) or maybe some kind of player ID.
-Location Damage (after all, it wouldn’t be Sin without it).
-Redirect Downloading (for when somebody doesn’t have a map or file required for a server, it can quickly be downloaded from another server with out bogging down the gaming server).
-Favorites Server List
-Buddy List (which can also search by part of a name. i.e. clan tags)

-CTF Point system that makes sense. My god was it bad in SIN
Just an example of point system:
Kill – 1
Flag Carrier Kill – 2
Defending Flag Carrier Kill – 2
Cap – 7

More to come as I think of them. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

what? the point system was great in sin ctf.
the defense got what it deserved. unlike in all the other games you got points for defending the flag.
sin and the first ut were the only games that tried to make a balance between offense and defence.
most shooters tried to make the game faster by giving the offence more options to infiltrate the flag room.
for me sin was great cause it was more hard to steal the flag.
besides that, some good balanced maps, grapple, runes, thrallball and some niffty new surprises will make me very happy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I remember correctly it was:
-30 points for a cap
-20 points if you were on the team that got a cap.
a 5-0 game had everyone on the one team over 100 points and the other team was all under 10.

Disclaimer: It's been like 6 years since I played sin CTF so I could be wrong.

Taken from my other post. Pretty much what I would like to see.

Since community is the flavor dujour it only seem fitting that these features be included:

1) In game server browser buddy list. I need to know where my friends are.
2) Some sort of player stat system. I need to know who’s “king spry guy”
3) Server Browser server image. Battlefield 2 has this. I’m able to place a logo or graphic when someone connects to my server.
4) Built in punkbuster support. I don’t like punks (I’m not talking about the sex pistols variety)
5) This is just a wish more than anything, but it would be nice to see a servers rating. (I.e. how popular it is, by traffic or by some sort of voting or star system). This once again is about community and give a server operator something to shoot for.

What’s old that works:
1) One word: Nukes!
2) One word: Bikes!
3) One word: Spry!
4) Varity of power-ups in MP
5) One word: Pineapples!
6) Location Damage and Damage Skins
7) Two words: Concussion Gun

What needs to be new:

1) Larger maps
3) Choppers
4) Built-in VOIP
5) Buddy list VOIP

I’m sure I’ll think of some other things later.

offence and defense got their points.

This would be nice. I'm not sure why, but there have been multiple occasions where some dorks would impersonate me and/or other old BK members.

Of course... they couldn't recreate my awesomeness. Nyuk nyuk.

I'd also like to see any vehicles/nukes limited to certain maps. This should allow a fair amount of old-school straight DM on smaller maps.

I want my Strafe Jump possibilities back. Fast moving and gameplay is a must have!

I admit that I didn't play much SinCTF because of the lack of Internet access at home at that time. However I did check out the maps and found most of them to be pretty "non-Sin", i.e. they didn't resemble the Sin universe as good as the DM maps. Now of course that's an opinion.

I find most of the suggestions made here very useful; there's not much more to add (nothing I can think of), and I'm kind of relieved to see that nobody screams for Onslaught and vehicles (it's already a little burden to me that Sin Episodes single player will rely on more vehicles than Sin did; I don't like vehicles in shooters all that much). And adding to that:

Take the Unreal Series of games. They have like 10 different game types and 20 different mutators. Which just divides up the community, which leaves a whole lot of empty servers.

I SO agree. Classic UT was the best, UT2004 brought a lot of its gameplay back, but only in the classic modes like TDM, CTF and Domination. I love to play UT2004 TDM, but I can't even aim and shoot in Onslaught and Assault without being blown away by three other h4xor kids before. It's just overloaded, way too fast and while it does have that big-team-goes-to-war feel, it's simply too heavy. I want Sin Episodes' MP to be sleek and sexy! That's all I ask.

At the very least I would like to see what can only be described as the first dual-wielding I've ever seen in a game: shown with John Blade's HARDCOPRS pistols from the SiN campaign.

(for those unaware, there was a cheat that enabled players to fight with a pistol in each hand)

In WOS this was serialised; you could pick up a second Magnum and have double Magnum action. It was a separately animated model though!

Ok, maybe I was wrong about the point system.
