I realize MP isn’t going to be released with the first episode. But here’s a list of things I would like to see when it does get released.
First off, don’t make all kinds of different game types. Stick with the traditional TDM & CTF. Take the Unreal Series of games. They have like 10 different game types and 20 different mutators. Which just divides up the community, which leaves a whole lot of empty servers. I read a interview with CliffyB a few months back, were be basically says he regrets making so many different game types and ways to play them (i.e. Mutators). He gives the example of McDonalds. The reason why it’s so popular, is you can go anywhere in the world and you’re going to me the same. And the less different game types, the more time you have of getting the few you’re doing right.
Now down to the basics
-In game voice (with the option to mute other players)
-HUD Clock
-Tournament mode (i.e. everyone needs to click in before starting the map)
-Warm-up Mode (could work by time limit or everyone clicks in on Tournament Mode)
-In Game Vote Options (i.e. Change Map, Restart & Kick Player
-Colored Names (Let players add colored to their names, i.e. quake)
-Different Style and color Cross Hairs as per weapon (So players can change their cross hairs for different weapons)
-Register your nick (that way nobody can impersonate you and it would be harder to use a ringer in matches) or maybe some kind of player ID.
-Location Damage (after all, it wouldn’t be Sin without it).
-Redirect Downloading (for when somebody doesn’t have a map or file required for a server, it can quickly be downloaded from another server with out bogging down the gaming server).
-Favorites Server List
-Buddy List (which can also search by part of a name. i.e. clan tags)
-CTF Point system that makes sense. My god was it bad in SIN
Just an example of point system:
Kill – 1
Flag Carrier Kill – 2
Defending Flag Carrier Kill – 2
Cap – 7
More to come as I think of them. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
