I would expect so, but I also think it will be a while.

Assuming that each episode will cost $10-15 each and will provide 6 hours of gameplay in each, the chances are a retail version of SiN Episodes won't be on the shelves until 3-5 of the chapters are available on Steam. This might seem a little bit pesemistic, but you have to remember that most games only have a playing experience story-wise that lasts for maybe 24 hours... at least until modteams "dip their fingers into the cookie jar" so to speak, and start creating their own magic with the game's engine.

SiN:E will be on retail shelves EVENTUALLY.. possibly when several episodes have come out.

far as I know, ritual has no plans to release, say JUST episode 1 alone to retail shelves..

maybe they will do something like Ep: 1-3 or something... we'll see.

Just for a laugh, try working out how much money is forked out to develop a product for 6 months, with a full, experienced development team, they aren't cheap.

You call the dev team 'lords of money' when they want to make some money back on their product.

When you decide to start producing a product worth retail value, you pour effort into it for months, if not years at a time, you work crunch time, late nights, llong hours, with little to no social life.

Even if they did release boxed games with only 2 or 3 episodes in it, that would be fine, considering how much effort, preplanning, production time, and love was put into the product.

Exactly where do you get off calling the dev team lords of money?

The developers confirmed the retail distribution of the sin episodes would take place AFTER all of the episodes were released through steam. They also said it would be a compilation of all the episodes.

They didn't say if steam was required for retail version, but my guess is yes.

The retail distribution will happen before all of the episodes are done (since the total number of episodes is currently not set in stone). We'll most likely see 'seasonal' retail compilations, containing 3 or so episodes at a more traditional retail price point.
