View Full Version : Swapping Jessica for Elexis

Hello, If you want to swap Jessica for Elexis you can do so by following these steps.

1. Find "sinepisodes models.gcf" usually located in "steam\SteamApps".

2. Use "gcfscape" to extract:
Elexis.mdl
Elexis.phy
Make sure you extract these files to a folder outside of steam (my documents?)

3. Rename:
Elexis.mdl => Jessica.mdl
Elexis.phy => Jessica.phy

4. Find your SE1 folder ( usually - steam\SteamApps\????\sin episodes emergence\SE1\ ) and create the following folder structure "\models\characters\Jessica" (effectively mirroring the folder structure in the "sinepisodes models.gcf")and place the renamed "Jessica.mdl", "Jessica.phy" files in it (these will override the ones in the "sinepisodes models.gcf")

You should now see Elexis in place of Jessica - there are a few animations that Elexis won't have eg. if shes getting into a car you'll get a big fat crash /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif so you've been warned.

It also works for "MobGrunt" so you can fight swathes of Elexis that are armed to the teeth.

Thanks for posting that. I just did that, but I used "naked_elexis"
instead of elexis. Works good

But i can not find the "sinepisodes models.gcf" everywhere. Please say a bit more detailedly .

Could someone post some pics of Elexis as Jessica and Elexis as grunts? Does the helmet get all screwed up?

The file "sinepisodes models.gcf" is in the
SteamApps folder.

It is a tool to browse and extract Halflife 2 and Sin
Episodes GCF game content files.

Also, even though having Jessica use Elexis' model
will crash the game during the first car-drive sequence,
the second car drive sequence near supremacy tower
will provide you with this driving experience:

Hm, I tried replacing MobGrunt with Elexis, it worked fine for the first enemy, whom I got with explosives. However the second one got shot in the head and the game instantly crashed, I think it must have something to do with the exploding headshots. Anyone got an idea how to get around that aside from not getting headshots?

The Elexis model is probably incompatible with some of the
grunts' animations (i'm just guessing). I don't know anything
about modeling or animation so I wouldn't know for sure if
this is the problem and if so how to solve it

I don't think that's it, whenever there's a missing animation the model just goes into display mode, like the picture in the car. It only crashes sometimes when I get headshots.

It crashes for me too when I do headshots and a lot of times I get
a message like "instruction at 0x24007107 referenced memory at 0x010b3d60 - the memory could not be read".

Maybe Jessica's model is more compatible with grunt headshots.
(I'll find out tomorrow)

I could never get "Elexisgrunt" to stop crashing
the game when getting head-shot, but when I
put Jessica.mdl (not the phy file, just the mdl
file) into the MobGrunts' folder and renamed it,
the game hasn't crashed on me (yet).

So they're basicly exactly what they seem, I guess, .mdl for models, and .phy for physics.

I dont think the problem is with the models because I can change around there animations in the model viewer and it works just fine. I have seen the Elexis model play all the Jessica animations so it is something in the game that is messing this up.

Well the exploding head crash seems to be because the medel doesn't have a headless version, that's just my theory.

both jessica and elexis! :D
