This is gona be my first map for Arena mode. ^_^
This is a remake of Stadium from Duke Nulem 3D, that will hopefully feature hi-res textures from the HRP pack for the win-ports (if I can get ahold of the creator)

the rar is structured so it will put the files in the right places within that folder (unless you disabled "Extract full paths").

Remember to give feedback so I can make adjustments and then make the veriant versions ^_-

I hope it works out. From my experience in Arena mode if a spawnpoint is in my FOV, enemies will not spawn there until I look away.

You can set the spawn locations to spawn an NPC even if it is in the fov of the player.

After an hour of frustration I made the elevator stop at the right hight, and made the goal post's (need to fix the texture).

Well I got the Hi-res textures but now im faced with a weird problem -_-
most of the textures (not the stock ones) have a weird hologram-card effect or a purpole overlay for some reason.
can somebody help?

Im almost complete now ^_^

But I want the community to help me decide how the NPC's spawn (ie. spawn out of nowhere, or comming out a small shack's in the corner's).
Post your idea's and help me out.

The problem with this map is that there is no where to duck out of enemy fire. You'll be mowed down by enemy fire in the first few seconds, especially if there are machine gunners around.

You're going to have to add some sort of building or some boxes to duck behind.

The reason this wasn't a problem in Duke Nukem 3D was because bullets traveled pretty damn slow back then and you could generally dodge almost anything.

You can have mutants coming from the the edges at the corners and in the middle on both sides

Btw. How did you do the Skybox? Everytime I try to add one it shows nothing in game (I already checked for leaks... nothing!)

I'm going to vote for "spawn out of nowhere". That'd be a bit more chaotic (chaos is fun sometimes) and precludes the possiblity of someone padding their score by spawn-camping the shacks.

(I know there's an Arena mode thread; I just want to get my feet wet by reading up a fair bit on it first.)

The same as above i'll make a standart version and one with mutants.

The skybox is easy ^o^
1) give the sky portion of your level the texture "skybox"
2) in the map properties (Map -> Map Properties) you set the name of the sky you want to use (use the texture browser with the filter name "skybox" to list them all). I used "sky_finale".

Thanks for little "how to" for the sky_box - It now works in my map!

Easy, either have Some Ammo Crates placed in certain locations of have respawnable items that apear every couple of minutes. (But in a close combat mutant map theres no need for extra ammo, trust me ive tried it :D)

The chaingunners are easy if you time your grenade right.
I should also mention that I placed a secret in the map. ^_^

Don't get your panties all in a bunch.
There will be a version with some crates or other type of cover when this one is done (wich is very close).

BTW have any of you found my little secret?

did you try shooting it in the face?

My current plans for the veriants (that will be released together in one big pack) are:

- BS_DN39-c Same as the original but with varies types of cover.
- BS_DN39-m Mutant version (not sure if it works)
- BS_DN39-mc Mutant version with cover

And when the Multiplayer mode is released there will be a veriant of that too ^_^

your not alone, I can tyell you were to put anything for an Unreal based game but I'm lost in this one too.

Maybe a Sticky is in order to help people where to put things where??

im such a noob at hammer i need some in depth info on how to make maps bad.

3D Buzz has some really good HL2 Video tutorials (requires registration wich is free). It's easy to adabt to Sin Emergence
