Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

The final version of the Linux Dedicated Server is now available for download. Click here for more information.

As noted on the main page, we have begun beta testing the Elite Force II Linux Server. All of the servers listed below are running the Linux Server. If you've played on any of these servers and have feedback regarding the Linux Server, please post it in this thread in order to make things easier for the developers.

Also, please stick to the subject. Any posts not concerning the Linux server will be deleted.

The latest version of the Linux server is Beta 3.

It addresses the following:

- Loading certain maps crashes the server
- Speed boots don't work correctly

I just tried them both, and none connects. Using v1.10 here. I'll try this evening again, hopefully there's a change by then.

Update: I just found them in the list, the ports have changed... oops... look fine

The [GEN]erals clan would love to beta test the linux dedicated server, I have a dedicated box just waiting here for the linux server to be released. I'll be willing to dedicate an IP address on my network to beta testing the linux server...

Feel free to e-mail me at srosebush[at]desynched[dot]org

Thanks.

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

bug in the server prog themselves or network issues? maybe the servers can send data but cant recieve? hmm. we need ritual to send the linux server out to more people so we can see whats the issue.

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

investigating...
i can remotly connect to the server console from ASE so the server can talk to the outside world. We're trying to follow a few tracks given by our friends from ritual. Will see later tonight.

Well, i havent seen them or been able to connect to them manually, are you sure your not blowing smoke up our stacks just to calm us down on the "Wheres the Linux Ded" questions?

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

Now I can see the server from Multiplay.co.uk Holomatch TEST 1 and I can connect without probs.

It is listed as the linux server in all seeing eye.

However, I can see the server in ASE but not from the ingame browser.

On the server everything seems fine.

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

well I dunno I still cant get on either, even with manual connect lines...

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

Question to Ritual:

Will the linux server's source code be released?? Usually things run better if they can be compiled for the system you run them on, or is that what the beta is, source, I hope its not just a binary?

EDIT: Multiplay.co.uk Linux Server does work and quite better than other win server I've been on. I think Ritual did a good job on this.

The Multiplay.co.uk linux server runs fine ,
but the speedboot's haven't any effect on this server.

A serversetting problem or a linux serverbug?

If you have any problems getting on the server, master down etc, you can download URLGameStarter and then click the links on http://gaming.multiplay.co.uk
Any feedback / requests you can grab us IRC #mpukhosting on QuakeNet or email clanservers@multiplay.co.uk

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

Just added a CTF server so there is now:[*] Multiplay.co.uk :: CTF #1 (Linux BETA)[*] Multiplay.co.uk :: Holo #1 (Linux BETA)

Hmm looks like URL parsing on this forum is broken so ip's are:[*] Multiplay.co.uk :: CTF #1 (Linux BETA) => 212.42.10.135:36431[*] Multiplay.co.uk :: Holo #1 (Linux BETA) => 212.42.10.135:36330

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

So, after stripping out all the custom levels, skin paks, the extra locpak2 that came with the game and a few mods, i finally was able to get onto a linux server.

1) as gen said the boots dont work.

2) i kept getting an 2 errors that said

R_ValidateSkelAnimAndFrame: no such frame 11 in anim 83 (name C:/Projects/EF2/EF2_SOURCE/base/models/char/base-male2/phaser-d)

and

TIKI_ValidateSkelAnimAndFrame: nos such frame 11 in anim 83 (name: C:/Projects/EF2/EF2_SOURCE/base/models/char/base-male2/phaser-d) in tiki 'models/char/dm_munro.tik'

3) No pain sounds when damaged.

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

Hey guys,

a quick update. A new build was just sent out, and you should now be able to connect to Jolt's servers just fine. One of the issues we're currently looking into is that it's not possible to load aah_ctf_tartirus without the server crashing.

I realize that a lot of you can't wait to get your hands on the Linux server, but we feel that testing it in a very small and controlled environment before starting a public beta is the best way to go in this case. Don't worry though, it won't be long until the beta is made available to the general public.

Thanks everyone for your help, and keep the feedback coming!

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

All Multiplay servers are now updated to b2 but to add to what badman said dont vote for any of the following maps as it will crash the servers atm:
dm_quarterdeck
dm_sewer
aah_ctf_tartirus

The guys are working on it and I'm sure they will have it fixed in no time.

Re: Post Your Linux Server Feedback Here

badman: thanks for your efforts, i really appreciate what you guys are doing, hopefully we can get EFII off the ground and soaring in a few months. haha. weird thing is that EFII plays WAY better on my computer than EFI ever did.... weird stuff!!
