Preventing players from cheating is rather complicated, but NOT impossible... ...at least you can reduce it so much that it almost is pointless to cheat :D , but you will need to do excellent...

Ow, forgott to mention, pk3 files you can open with tools like 7-Zip or any else free archiving tool that can handle ZIP-Archives.

You probably have a small monitor.
A high resolution doesn't mean that the screen is big, I know I have 1280x1024 on a 17".

The Hud can be modified in game.

Then again, you could install Windows and start the game from there.

If you don't have a Windows version, you might ask a friend to lend you the CDs,...
