spark is right about fury vs Radeon. The Radeon is a very, very nice card.

As for the Acoustic Edge, it too is a real nice card. But I've heard of a lot of Win2k users who were less than impressed...

No real hardware difference. I believe the Herc supports spdif out or optical out... or something like that (which I would never use, so I never really paid attention). But other than the breakout...

But the Santa Cruz is a good sound card. Every bit as good as the Herc (same chipset, as a matter of fact), sans the breakout box.

No, you don't need the plastic washers. However, you do need the brass stand-offs which are what raises the motherboard off the case.

I haven't used those washers in like three years.

Well, if you can drop $130 next week, why not consider a Santa Cruz for $70, and a $70 video card such as a Radeon LE 32mb DDR?

Another place to look for hardware is the For Sale/Trade forums at Fatwallet and AnandTech. You can get some pretty good deals there.

Pretty much the best deal on video cards right now is the ATI...
