Yeah its well known that people will try to break copy protection to be rebelious or to be the first to do it. It becomes a challenge for them to break what is considered unbreakable. Its sad to think that in the not too distant future, delivery systems like steam will be an industry standard for games.
Even further down the track, when internet speeds are super fast, we can probably expect games to be loaded into memory on the fly froma main server. This would prevent people from having the game content and being able to breach copyright by editing it or pirating it.
But we know the rebelious/ smart ones will find a way to dump the data thats loaded into memory somwhere and bypass that too.
I'm all for copy protection, but when it stuffs up, its the customers that suffer.
