Default SiN Episodes: Emergence Feedback and Suggestions

So, seeing as how the release is a little more than 20 hours away, feedback and suggestions for the game are inevitable. I thought it would be a good idea to have a big thread so that the devs won't have to sift through a massive amount of threads for suggestions/feedback (seeing as how they will be considering our suggestions/feedback!).

Whether your feedback/suggestions is about gameplay, music, sound, graphics, etc. Post 'em here!

Also, come to think of it, a bug thread would be in order too! <---No dice as per what Michael said.

P.S.
If a suggestions/feedback forum section is planned, I guess you can delete this post hehe.

Actually, I'd rather have bugs as seperate threads to make it easier for people to find the solution they are looking for, but I agree...suggestions and feedback, dump it here.

I think this game seriously lacks ninjas.

And pirates for that matter.

Hell, scratch this game and make it a Pirates vs Ninjas game.

Or not.

I have always dreamed of a game featuring robotic ninja pirates from outer space. Sadly, no one else has dared to dream the dream...

Don't forget undead pyschic monkeys.
System Shock 2 was the true inovator here.

I hope there will be secret areas or even secret levels like other games do.

That would be an excellent idea. I think adding Pirates and Ninjas is something all people can identify with especially in this post 911 world. Especially radical christian ninjas and pirates who have formed alliances on college campuses.

Ok, since people are starting to already threadjack this with "Release it!" crap and "ninja/pirate" stuff, I think I should try to pull this thread back on topic:

I know the game isn't out yet, and I've already said this once, but this is the 'official' place for this: Sexuality needs to be in the game as blatantly or more blatantly than in SiN1. I know you guys censored SiN1 by removing a bit of visual porn in one secret area, but part of the appeal of the original SiN was the fact that it treated the player -like- an adult. I'm tired of playing games that have been censored to make it suitable to 17 year old's eyes.

A perfect example of this would be (and I've said this again) the apparent dream sequence with Elexis in a pond. I don't -think- this is actually a dream, but the effect is certainly screaming something along the lines of "I'm mother nature" and "Revel in sensuality". The scene would have been perfect if she were nude, or at least topless, and she's not in the videos. There may be a way of making her such in the game... I'm not sure (though I suspect there is since her bikini does actually seem to be separate from her body), but that part should have been naked. Temptation, in all its forms, and quite blatant at that, was what that seems to call for, not a bit of censorship here or there.

Ok, maybe it's best to start out with an M rating and move on to AO later, though to be honest, I'm not sure the ESRB would give you an AO for a topless girl. God of War got an M for nudity. So has Oblivion. Try for it! (Though I personally think you should just simply push the envelope and go for that AO rating.)

I don't think nudity "needs" to be in there. It doesn't matter whether she's naked or in a bikini. Just as long as the story is top notch. I just want to see a lot more character developement concerning why Blade and Elexis's backgrounds and what makes them do what they do in Sin Episodes compared to the original sin, and from what I can tell more story is being driven in the latest game.

Regarding the nudity, personally I feel that there should be unrated games on steam; give devs more freedom.

Feeback about Emergence? I haven't played it yet, but I hope (and if not in the first episode, expect it in the second) that the scripted story sequences are animated (both facial and body) as well as it was in Half-Life 2. Anything less and people are going to whine and complain (that's what they are good at).

When I loaded up SiN and heard that song in the main menu I was like "Oh yea..this is gonna kick major ass!" and I was wondering if anyone from Ritualistic would put that song out for download? Maybe for a small fee if needed?

Have you tried it yet? When I extracted all the music tracks, only two or three work... The silly thing is though that all the other sounds work normally.

It is an excellent first episode, the graphics, gameplay, sound, music and the personal challenge system.

I would like to see more of Blade speaking in future episodes.

I finished the game 2 days ago but I wanted to finish hl2 ep1 before posting.

so let's start with minuses:

- the first most obvious thing is Blade's speech. I will say it again just to make sure Ritual do not think someone likes it the way it is. (I read a couple of posts from guys who liked it but they will be tracked down and punished ) And you can give us the guy who came with the "brilliant" idea of the silent Blade so we can lynch him.
- characters are not deep at all. Maybe because Blade does not talk but still it's worth mentioning. Jessica is awful up to now. Alyx from hl2(and I mean the original hl2) is much better character she feels human let alone comparisson with ep1. I think it will be really cool if Jessica turns out to be a traitor in let's say 4-5th ep but there should be clues earlier. If there's gonna be a love story let it be with JC let's say she'll seduce him to get some information. Blade is saved for Elexis
- I didn't notice infinite enemy spawns but they were long and annoying anyway. Just make them spawn further I guess.
- The hands of the models? WTF? You wanted to have graphics from the original SiN or what?
- interactivity Hacking consoles, shooting locks etc. You know better. You did it with the first SiN.
- Story. The first SiN didn't have the best story out there but it was enough. Emergence may even have better story but it doesn't seem enough. You just need to have more otherwise it seems somewhat empty.
- It maybe just my computer but the game seems like it runs slower compared to hl2 ep1 and the latter has HDR enabled. Maybe it is the larger spaces I don't know but I can feel it in arena mode and I don't feel it in hl2 deathmatch. It is not a big issue though. At least not before multiplayer comes out.

Pluses:

+ SiN 1. I didn't play the game when it was released. Seeing the amount of bugs and how many lockers actually managed to kill me I think it's better that I played it now when it loads for 5 sec instead of 5 minutes. It would be good if you pack Wages of SiN with ep2 for example. I really think there should be more addons with episodic games as the game itself is short.
+ Challenge system worked well for me. If you can implement it without the respawning it will be fine.
+ Secrets. I love them.
+ Music. The title song is great if you have a song like this for every episode I'll buy it no matter what is the game. I don't feel like paying for the soundtrack again though so I just downloaded it from torrents and I don't feel guilty at all.
+ Level design is great except for the interactivity. I don't really like alternate routes and levels so I don't miss them. I don't replay games couse there are lots of good games and not enogh time so I want to see everything the first time pls.
+ Arena mode. GREAT! Maybe official statistics with names for arena mode?
+ Weapons' balance is great. This weapons are more useful, dynamic and variable with their alt fire than some games have with their whole arsenal of 736756 with all strange alt fire (see Unreal/UT for example of bad weapons did you really enjoy pumping the green thing?)
+ Media content. The website is great and Cindy and Bianca rock. Other games try to cover the lack of any content with disgusting flash (I HATE FLASH) websites. www.sinepisodes.com is simple but it has something to look at. Starting from info about the guns, characters, going through the pictures of the girls (I actually started there) and edning with the statistics. Masterpiece!

Overall: You made SiN fan out of me and I hadn't played the original SiN back in 98 or 99? That should be enough though I still consider Half-life to be better (both the first half-life 1 and hl2 ep1)

+ Excellent sound, better cache than HL2, you can hear things screaming in the distance and things sound far away when they are, simply great
+ Excellent weapons
+ Headshots are easy and feel satisfying
+ Stats are awesome
+ Boob physics

- Terrible monster design
- Fall damage is too high
- Story wasnt explained to me, as Ive never played a Sin game before I was lost
- Terrible Lip Sync

+weapons: I really hope there are no uber weapons, i prefer each weapon to have a niche.
+headshots are good
+stats... bring the best parts of arcades into this game.
+personaly I like how the antagonist has a nice rack; but your side kick is more modest. They seem to balance eachother so no matter your size preferance you get the cleavage you want.
+phospherous grenades: so much better than lighing crap on fire in HL2, I acually wanted people to get thrid degree burns for my enjoyment.
+nice use of cover by the AI, although they wern't grenade happy.
+ sintek gunners... they unleash whoopass, they gib... they make me happy to be alive to kill them...
+scope on the assualt rifle was nice, (and i can just see your sniper rifle using duag rounds)

- the monsters arn't terrible but they arn't terribly unique either
-the falling damage was a little stiff
-you do need to have a little background in the story... but youll also see that most of the game you run though location you'll swear you've seen in the original sin.
-I was to high on adreniline to notice...
*-change the melee system, id like to see you be able to pull of a minor attack string and possibly hit people weapons away
*-duag rounds dont go through doors (or some)

Played through with the top bar all to the right, and the bottom at the middle. Took longer then 6 hours which was a nice suprise a company that underestimates its length. My only problem that hasnt been posted is that there is no manual html style like there was for Sin 1 (Steam) and that the various challenge ratings could be explained deeper, so me and my friends can talk smack vs eachother with confidence we actully know what were talking about. And the soundtrack isnt released retail yet.
Edit: I just remembered also, I am unable to get the logitech G-15 keyboard to detect Sin, was support dropped?
