Default Changing FOV

I've tried changing both "fov" and "default_fov" in the console and neither works. I can change to >75, but not less than. The latter works behind the console, but as soon as the console is closed, it reverts back to 75. Is there any way to make it stay?

I believe 75 is the minimum FOV allowed by the game.

You can change it to anything in HL2, so I assumed it would be the same in S:E.

The valid range for FOV values is 75-110.

Is there any reason for such a limited range? Every other shooter allows any value up to, I think, 180.

Just to explain myself, the reason I'm asking about this is that I like taking "photos" after I've completed a game and this requires the use of "zooming" anywhere between 90 and 6 degrees (a.k.a. 18mm to 300mm focal length). Yes I know it's geeky, but I am a photographer afterall

this is not true.

UT2K4 OFFLINE will let you set it to whatever you'd like, but ONLINE it is limited 80-120

I tried that. But as I said, it changes in the background, but once the console is closed it reverts back to 75
