Default Steam and Condition Zero???

Will CZ be using the new Steam technology?
I still dont understand how Steam can be used for CZ when the non-beta version hasn't even come out

From what I understand, CZ will be available via Steam (but it'll cost you). I'm confident that Valve will iron out Steam's problems if they are indeed serious about using it.

CZ is supposed to be the first product available for purchase via Valve's online distribution system, Steam. I know that a team is working on Steam technology to ensure it's a viable delivery medium for the future of gaming.

Counter-Strike will always be free. I was referring to Condition Zero (the whole game, not just the new multiplayer content). Instead of going to the store and picking CZ up there, you will be able to download the whole thing via Steam. Naturally you'll have to pay a one-time fee in order to get it this way, because Valve isn't going to give CZ away for free.

No prob. Valve pretty much redefined community support, I think they know what they're doing.

Valve also excels at milking their fanbase. We can expect a dozen editions of every Valve game released in the future. At least I'm confident that Valve will eventually release long-awaited titles such as HL2, TF2 and CS2. I can't say the same about 3D Realms and its only gaming franchise.

Hold on a minute....but how can Condition Zero run on the new Steam Technology if the CS1.6 non-beta version(which also runs on Steam) hasn't come out yet?
I mean how do they know that Steam is safe and reliable...what happens if Steam crashes or something then Condition Zero owners wont be able to play Condition Zero until its is fixed?
plus another thing;will u have to connect to the internet when u want to play CZ like CS1.6 beta is right now?

Ah, just to clear some things up:

Steam will be an alternate way to distribute Condition Zero. You will still be able to buy it in stores. Valve is working hard on ironing out the remaining issues Steam has, and hopefully it'll all be up and running by the time CZ comes around.

You will not have to be connected to Steam in order to play Condition Zero, so if the service is down, you'll still be able to get your fix.

Likewise, you won't have to be connected to the internet in order to play Condition Zero's single player mode or botmatch.

What's the latest on Steam subscription prices? I want to know if Valve is going to undercut retail prices and offer a greater value to the average consumer.
