Default Problems when downloading - Can someone up a .zip?

Edited and corrected:

Dudes, im having problems when downloading the new patch on Steam, cause of my friends network security issues, so can someone zip the update files and host on

www.rapidshare.de

And give me the link? Please... do that only if u can, of course.

You can see which were the updated files by setting Windows Explorer to organize the files by its modification date.

What kinds of problems? The full installer is less than 1 MB and available straight from www.steampowered.com - what's giving you trouble?

If he bought it retail, it should come with steam.

If he bought it on steam, he'd have to have steam already.

If he can't connect to steam, he won't be able to authorize his copy of the game to install it.

In short, he'll need to be able to connect to steam to play/activate the game. After that, he can put steam in "offline mode" and won't need any connection to the steam servers.

Let me explain better,

Hes got retail, his connection accepts the connection with Steam, but doesnt accept inbound connections... aka he cant download anything from Steam.

He is stuck on a bug of the game, that is corrected with the patch, so he needs the patch files... cause he cant download nothing from steam, neither anyother kind of ftp connections, neither p2p.

He can only get the patch through Steam.

The patch is requested by the client. It isn't pushed by Steam. The client is asking for the items.

If you have the warez version, forget about support. Just saying this in case...

Lol, r sry my mistake, read the first post again..

My problem isnt downloading Steam, is download FILES in Steam..

I cant download the patch cause my friends network's security.

BTW lol, its not the warez version.

------------------------

But wait, theres a solution of getting those updated files.

When Steam updates it, it modifies it... So if u go to Windows Explorer, and check it for organize the items throught modification date, it may show the last updated separated.

So if u know that files, u know what Steam updates.. If u can zip em and host somewhere, ill be glad

We don't have the patch by itself to release - it has to be added to the GCF files. What Michael is saying is that the client requests the file, so it's opening an outbound connection to the steam servers. Steam isn't requesting an inbound connection so your friend's network won't prevent the update from being downloaded. The only way to get the patch is through Steam and no firewall should prevent someone for receiving a transfer that they initiated.
