Exclamation Messenger, IRC and Me

Last night, I forgot to log out of Messenger before heading home for the evening.

This morning, I came in to a 94-page chat thread in a Messenger window on my work desktop.

Messenger isn't very stable when chat threads get that long, so I have no idea who started the thread and who started inviting people in, but I do want to say this.

I don't mind interacting with the community. I enjoy it. But I do have some limits.

Do not message me if I am showing as "Away" or "Busy."

If you message me and I don't respond immediately, do not continually "ping" me. I'll respond if and when I get an opportunity.

Unless given permission, do not invite additional people into the conversation.

Do not ask me questions about unreleased products.

And finally, I will not connect to IRC from work. I hop in on occasion from home, but work is out.

Thats the danger of giving out your msn to the community, maybe a different e-mail specially made for community services?

That's the trick there...I didn't give it to the community. (grin)

That said, I don't mind chatting, but I do have to have limits so that I can effectively do my job, have a life, and still interact.

If worse comes to worse Rom and they don't learn from their mistakes there's always the Block button!

Your best bet would be to check your logs, you'll soon pick the culprit out of the lineup then, afterwards you could do what Riddled said and block him or her. The block button is a Godsend.

Gladly it's enough for me to get all the information needed from the forums, well sometimes i do bother Badman, if there is something he can share, but i also know that it's limited what he can tell, so i don't keep on bugging him. So fear not ritual guy's i'm not going to send any messages via anything else than this board, since i'm not interested. It's only your games, that i like.(read=I'm not going to lick anyone's ass )

Well I'm glad to hear that (disturbing mental picture ensues)

...eew

I already have Michaels deep dark secrets!

Like....this one!

Rom It's sad...I've been using Google AdSense on my blog for two years now. Even with my visitor load, I still haven't made enough to get a check...
Rom Over the last week, I've earned three cents.
Standoff That's a lot of cash....wow
Rom Hey, I'm up to $61.23 earned. At this rate, another 15 months and I'll get a check!

(My talented team of lawyers that don't exist made sure that was safe to post.)

Hey, there's nothing wrong with making a buck.

Interesting to see you go the extra mile, though. Giving out your email to people sounds a bit risky...

I used to be an active member of a music forum, and the admin had the artist's contact information. Some people got a hold of it and abused it. Needless to say, the artist doesn't talk to people he doesn't know any more.

It can go either way. Being a noteworthy person, you certainly invite risks by being open about things, but sounds like Michael values the cool people he meets more than disliking the disruption.

Completely off topic, but man I just made the wierdest observation. In Fullmetal Alchemist you could rework the intro to go 'Humankind cannot gain anything without giving an arm and a leg.' and it'd totally fit. That's too funny.

There are tons of examples about it all over the internet, people think they can act like shit and do whatever they want to, just because they are behind wired lines(for smartasses, i do know there are wireless connections too ). I use appear offline, when i don't want to be disturbed.

MSN Messenger has the great ability to block anyone you don't want messenging or e-mailing you.

You can prostitute yourself and still choose exclusively

One could say that it is your responsebility to make sure everything is 'locked down', besides if your rig DID crash then you would've given the guys from IT a run for their money . . .

I've been trying to think of a response, but that didn't really make enough sense to repond to.

So hey! There you go!

Ah, but you did. It's not well-publicized, but it is public.
