Default Explosions hanging for 10 seconds

Hello.
I am not at my computer right now, so I cant get the dxdiag info right now, but will when I get home tonight.

My problem is this though:
Everytime there is an explosion (mostly from barrels/explosives), the game will 'hang' for 10 seconds, with the sound repeating the 1st part of the explosion sound. This lasts for about 10 seconds, and then the game continues fine until the next explosion.

I have the latest sound/video/mobo drivers available.
I have an AMD fx-60 (dual core), 4gigs of memory, and 2 gforce 7800gtx's, in sli, and audigy 2 zs sound card.

Thanx for any help.

Dual core problems

If you are on a dual-core machine and have been experiencing random crashes or major performance drops, please check out this Source-engine knowledge base article for how to fix the problem:

Sarkie, I did read that.
But, I am not experiencing any performance drops, or crashes, or hangs (that will not come back from the hang, that is).

Just this 1 anomally.

When I get home though, I will try it out, although I already have the bootup string and the AMD driver.
