Getting Redemption Bot and Wages to work with Sin Steam

Yep its true redemption Bot works with sin steam...

Youll need the following for it to work

Gcfscape161
get it from here

You will need Redemption files from here

Download them all from red111 to red118
Extract the zips to a temp directory Starting with red111 and ending with red118 when it asks you if you want to replace files click yes..

open notepad
Make a txt file containing this info:

@echo off
start sin +set game redemption +deathmatch 1 +map spry +maxclients 8

Select Save As
Call it what ever you like but make shure it has the ".bat" at the end instead off ".txt"
Also make shure that under File Types "All Files" is selected
Save it

Move the redemtion.bat and your redemtion folder to your sin steam directory
located at
X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your account name\Sin 1\

Where X represents your hard disk name
and Y you folder structure where steam resides..

copy steam.dll from your main steam folder (where steam.exe is) to your Sin 1 directory as well..

Use gcfscape to extract the base folder in your Sin 1 directory..
This will take some time

DO NOT DO ANYTHING WHILE IT EXTRACTS OR IT WILL CRASH...

once thats done run your redemtion.bat file

when the game runs open the console

Type bind b bot

close the console

Press B to add bots..

To change map in your redemtion.bat file simply replace
"+map spry" with +map [name of the map]

To change how many clients or Bots that are allowed
simply change "+maxclients 8" to
+maxclients [the number of your choise]

Tried getting WOS to work with said method..

No dice..

If too get WOS to work im afraid ill need a tool to unpak Sin pak files.. Though i would still need to test if its possible.

You could just wait till the update is out, its with Valve at the moment, so once they have tested it, it should be out

Nope wasn't mine.. I had a match with just Bots to test..

And it worked.. hehe haven't experienced any bugs yet..

other than you need to extract the whole BASE folder
or youll miss textures sounds and other stuff..

I thought if i could get Redemtion running i could maybe get WOS running to..

but yeah i egerly wait for the update.. Then i can also finally play in my TFTs native resolution 1280x1024

hum, I was wondering because I saw an unnamed server with 2 blade with exactly the same connection time... I was hoping it was bots but i hadn't time to connect and check... but I was more thinking at someone from ritual testing new patch rather than someone who found a way to play redemption with the actual version. that's by far the better news since I heard ritual was making a new sin1 patch.

As i said ill try to makee a server online.. but since i have a router with firewall build in i need to set that up first..

a Netgear WGR610 v6 with TDC firmware (TDC being my ISP).. if anyone is wondering

Ive tried hosting a server but my Server keeps being LAN..

but if anybody is willing to test if they can get a server up and running then they are more than welcome..

I almost have gotten WOS to work through Sin 1 steam by
extracting pak0.sin from the non-steam 2015 folder and
using sinview to extract it to folder Sin 1/2015.
(a monstrous ordeal)
I can get WOS to come up in steam Sin 1 but I can't get
any WOS maps to load. Sinview doesn't see the map files
in the aforementioned 2015 pak0.sin file or in the 4 pak
files in the Sin/base folder.

there is a pak viewer, but i'm afraid you can not extract all the content, you shoult find it on the www8.tok2.com/home2/elexis or something like that website that you can find on this board

I extracted 2015 content to Sin 1\2015 and used a
shortcut with command line
"xxx\sin.exe" + set game 2015 +map 2015intro_cin
and it works.
I already have the Sin 1 content unpacked into the
game folder to use the redemption bot. Whether or
not you can run WOS without unpacking the game content
first I don't know.

I just found that you can play WOS without having to
unpack your steam Sin 1 content gcf.
Just unpack WOS content into Sin 1/2015, start the game
normally (don't start with the command line +set game 2015)
then while in the regular Sin 1 game type in the console
"set game 2015" then type "map 2015intro_cin" or whatever
other level you want to start in.


addendum

If you do this and play the WOS missions,
now and then you will find missing textures
because WOS relies upon a few textures that
are in the original Sin retail pak#.sin files
but not in the Sin 1 content gcf file.

example, the map casino2 uses a texture
"wl_purplebitch" that is in the original
Sin pak0(not 2015), but not in the steam
Sin 1 gcf.

The problem I'm having is that even though I can run WOS in
Steam Sin 1, I can never get any hoverbikes in the game.
They don't show up in the hbdm maps and I can't spawn them.

Yeah... And i found out Redemtion Bot only works as single player you can't join a Redemtion Bot server..

It gives a "Couldn't find Redemption folder error" and it dosn't work setting the game as redemption..

But we got single player stuff working.. thats atleast a good thing..

We just have to wait for the patch i guess

Here's a guide on how to make Wages of Sin, work with the Steam Version of Sin (version 1.12)

Again this guide is only for people interested in Using Wages Of Sin, with the new 1.12 version of Sin, released on steam with Bundled Sin Episodes: Emergence.

Current Issues:

-If You use the WUSS (all weapons) cheat in training mission the level will reload and you only get some of the weapons and you have to type WUSS again to get everything.

-when seeing the end credits after game completed the game changes resolution to either 640*480 or 800*600 im not exactly shure witch, Forcing you to change ressolution again for your second playtrough.

The folders in SiN: Steam that are under the locale/en folder for regular SiN also need to be moved to a locale/en folder for WoS.

That's why your menus aren't working and you are hardcoding the starting map.

How to get Wages of Sin Running on SiN Steam

Updated: 22. July 2007

PART 1: The Basics

You will need the following for it to work:

Steam With a valid Account.
A copy of Wages Of Sin.
A copy of Sin Episodes: Emergence With Sin Steam included
(People in Germany May or may not be able to get this in their country due to censorship, be shure to check before you buy)

Gcfscape (To extract nessesary files from steam)
get it from here (get the zip file version labeled Archive)

Sin Tools Specificly the Makepak.exe (To extract nessesary files from Wages Of Sin)
get it from here:

Updated Configuration Scripts made By me (These Updates the Configuration files And the Main Menu Script, to be compatible with the Version 1.12 changes made to Sin Steam)

Move the downloaded zip files to a temporay directory:

Example:

C:\Temp\

When you have downloaded the zip files in your temporary folder, extract all zipfiles except the "WOS_cfg_Files.zip". To do this right click a zip file, and chose Extract To Here (or Extract Here in WinRAR)

You should now have a temp directory looking like this:

C:\Temp\
-\sin (folder)
-GCFScape.exe
-HLLib.dll
-Readme.txt

Delete The Gcfscape.zip and the Sintools_Full.zip files , Or Store them somewhere else for later use if you prefer. Do not Delete or move the WOS_cfg_Files.zip file yet, you'll need it later.

Now copy the 2015 folder from your Wages Of Sin Retail cd to the same temporary folder.

Go into the sin folder (in your temporary folder), then the Bin folder. Loctate the Makepak.exe there, and move it to your 2015 folder in the temporary folder.

Example:

C:\Temp\Sin\bin\Makepak.exe <-move from here

C:\Temp\2015\makepak.exe <- To here..

After the file is moved from folder to folder, you can delete the Sin folder, since you won't be needing it anymore.

Go in to your command promt (Click Start, Run, type cmd and click Enter)

Navigate to your temporary folder and run makepak.exe with the "-u pak0.sin" prefix without the quotes. Wait for the files to extract.

Example:
Type it in the command promt

C: (Click Enter)
cd temp\2015 (Click Enter)
Makepak -u pak0.sin (Click Enter and wait for the nessesary files to extract).

When Its done extracting the files Delete the "Makepak.exe" And the "Pak0.sin" files, you don't need them anymore.

Now make a new folder in the 2015 folder called "locale" without the quotes.
In the locale folder make yet another folder called "en" again without the quotes.. Make shure you use lower-case (small) letters.

Now move the dialog, menus and pics folders from the 2015 folder, to the locale\en folder

Example:

C:\Temp\2015\dialog <-|
C:\Temp\2015\menus <-|-Move the following folders from here
C:\Temp\2015\pics <-|

C:\Temp\2015\locale\en\dialog <-|
C:\Temp\2015\locale\en\menus <-|- To here
C:\Temp\2015\locale\en\pics <-|

This should make your menus in Wages of Sin work correctly.

Remember that WOS_cfg_Files.zip file you downloaded?? Now its time to use it simply extract it in your 2015 folder.

Example:

C:\Temp\2015 <- extract the contents here

Now move the 2015 folder to your Steam Sin folder located at:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

If you can't find the folder, make shure you have run The Sin Steam version atleast once.


Now go back to your temporary folder and run GCFScape.exe

Click open

And navigate to your steamapps folder located at:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Find the Sin 1 Content.gcf click on it then click open..

You should now see a folder stucture to the left like this

-Root
+Base
+ctf
+reslists

Click on Base folder in the left window
then rightclick and chose extract

Navigate to your sin 1 folder again located at:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Click okay and wait for the files to extract.

If it asks your if you want to overwirte any files just accept it..

Now go to where your steam folder recides and locate the steam.dll and copy it to your sin 1 folder

Example:

X:\Y\Steam\Steam.dll <-copy from here
X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1 <-to here

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

You need to copy the Miles folder from your sin 1 base folder to your 2015 folder

Example:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1\base\miles <-Copy folder from here

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1\2015\miles <- To here

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Now make a bat file
containing the following and place it in your Sin 1 folder:

Part 2: Getting The Intro Movie Running

First you need a new tool..
Rad Game Tools (Used to convert too and from Bink Video And Smacker Video formats)..
Get it Here:

Install Radgame Tools

Then run it from its shortcut..

In the search area navigate to your 2015 movies folder and locate the 2015_logo.avi

Example:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1\2015\movies

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Higlight It and click Bink It

Make shure you use the Exact same settings as in the picture below:

When its done Converting Click View to make shure it works then click done..

Now move the newly created 2015_logo.bik file from the 2015 movies folder, to the base movies folder.

Example:

X:\Y\Steam\steamapps\your user name\Sin 1\base\movies\2015_logo.bik <- To here

Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.
