you just create a models folder in steam\steamapps\your email\counter-strike\cstrike\ . it'll use the files in there instead of the cache. myself, i dont see how they can stop people from copying the cz models into 1.6. they can try i guess.

it was left handed!
this reply doesn't help me at all. i don't know if you mean that the model was left handed in the game when you wanted it to be right handed. or that the source model that you created of the lr300 was on the left-hand side.

anyway. all weapons built should be made as in the left hand side in your source file (i.e. in max, or milkshape or whatever you use.) if you don't create it on the left side then and on the right instead then your model will not show up properly in the game. this may be different for 1.6 i don't know but that's how i made all the models for czero otherwise the weapons would show up on the wrong side.

well, obviously what i meant by that is that i am right handed (and selected that in the menu) and the replacement model was left handed

I'm saying that there's a /czero/ as well as a /cstrike/ directory when CZ is installed.

So indeed it seems that you get an upgraded CS installation. I'm not sure what measures have been implemented by Valve to prevent people from simply giving out the updated assets. I suppose it would be possible to have Steam check this kind of stuff and ... correct it, if necessary.
They didn't stop this with the Blue Shift content update. :X
You can still use custom content in Steam by dropping them in the SteamAppsusername@mail.com<game><moddir&g t; directory, and you can get the original content by downloading the dedicated server; it has all the files unpacked. I think (but I'm not sure) that mp_consistency only checks specific files, or puts limits on the files, like the size of the model or something. I know you can still use custom player models in TFC, at least, but I think there is a limit to the bounds of the model, and you can only replace certain specific TFC sprites, etc.

Yeah, but Valve promised the community to open up 1.6 for custom models.
