10k is a pretty standard (and shitty price) for a MCSE class. 90% of which will barely give you enough knowledge to pass the test and zero actual knowledge you will need to get and keep a job as a professional.
You have to be VERY picky about these types of schools, some of them can be gems, I was lucky enough to find one, I'm a month from having a full mcse and I just quit 1 job and getting another for 52k a year, not bad for a teenager

$10k?

Oh hell no. Just pick up some study guides from New Ryders, Sybex, and Osborne to name a few, and some Transcenders. Study hard and install the OS that you plan to test for and get some hands on experience.

Just remember, when/if you get your MCSE, don't expect to be getting 70k. Companies want experience to go along with that title.

After I got my MCSE, I began studying for CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) a much more valuable certification IMO

3 months for 10k?
That seems really short.. I would go with korrupt on this one and skip it. That guy can tell you anything, but you won't be making 70k a year with just an MCSE

If the school won't teach you real knowledge beyond the microsoft tests, won't give you things like fake experience or have very good contacts and be able to hook you up with a good job, there's really no point in dropping 10k on em.

CCNA? Good luck
The size of the study book alone gave me nightmares.

I have my MCSE and I'll tell you its not what its cracked up to be. yeah I heard all this 60-70k a year crap. But it seems, at least here in vegas, that it doesnt mean shit. My manager is an idiot you couldnt even get her MCSE from one of those gay bootcamps. And shes my boss?!! Go figure. I also have my CNA and A plus)(big deal right> and Im only makin 35K. I took the classes and Im still paying for it. I only paid 8300 tho and that was for my MCSE +I. I learned alot but your best bet is to get books and study. I found that is wasnt worth the money put forth to recieve this certification. Plus with all the dummies recieving the certification its begining to lose its value. Ponder it awhile before you jump on it.

Hey Master werent you contemplating this awhile ago? I remember you asking me all these questions about MCSE before. One thing that your salry depends on is where you live. I dont live in a very (IT) technologically advanced part of the country. Computer jobs dont pay that well here so I dont get paid as much. Yeah with some experience you could get paid good money. But being green with your MCSE fresh in hand isnt going to land you a high paying job.

If you're gonna get a BS in Comp Sci... then you should be going in the heavy development of shit, hardware/software...

But if you want to do networking only, then why not just get those certificates and get a great paying job?

Going all the way... Univ Comp Sci... isn't the best thing to do always. There's a lot of computer univ students who aren't satisfied with their edu, and they skip the rest of univ, or afterwards, they take college/training/private courses... because they didn't learn enough hands-on stuff in Univ sitting at the desk taking notes in the lecture hall.

There's nothing you can't learn by yourself anyways.

Rome, save up for that Jaguar convertible, then move to Florida to enjoy it. one of my tutoring customers has one, and it is *the* babe magnet. for me it's 10 bucks an hour at the slave pit, 40/hr to help rich old ladies set up America Online (2-3 hours).
