Brightness issue

OK...all my drivers are up to date...win xp, P4 2.4 Ghz...but the brightness adjustment in the single player campaign won't change anything, and the game is very dark. I had the same problem in EF 1...and was able to modify the "R_gamma #"...but I can find no information on this for EF 2...so how can I adjust the brightness when any changes I make to the brightness slider don't do anything in-game??

I get this sometimes as well, I find that adjusting the brightness settings in the advanced options for the graphics adapter works. (You need to do this in Windows.)
