Talking The Quake 4 1.3 patch

Umm from what I could ghater its only a multiplayer patch...

Quake4 multiplayer was lacking to say the least, really lacking... multiplayer was just plain rubbish...

I think this is something REALLY needed... Q4's multiplayer is really unspiring because it's just Quake 3's multiplayer with Q4's weapons. Very boring.

I know it is, but whenever there is a big update I always get re-interested in the game and since I never beat it...

The one thing that multiplayer really lacks is models and skins. I mean there's a marine skin, a mutant and a mutated marine, which is very little variety compared to quake 3.

Also there appears to be no one making any new multiplayer models for it, because it's apparently excessively complex.

I found a couple of player models for Quake 4 but more are definitely needed.

I really expected more from Raven theyve done some wickedly awsome games in the past...

Id really like to see the weapons/equipment that went missing from Quake2 put into Quake4...

I think the game would've been more enjoyable if they added some puzzles to it to break up the non stop action.

It doesn't matter how good the action is, if you have endless amounts of it all in a row it gets boring.

Bright skins are for clans, if you just want to play for fun you don't need your opponents to stand out so much. I prefer fun models and skins like you got in quake 3.

all brightskins does is ruin perfectly ballanced weapons favoring high damage long range hitscan weapons...

I don't understand that statement at all... I thought brightskins were simply an aesthetic feature? (Keep in mind that I'm a casual gamer, for the most part.)

I didn't like Quake 4 multiplayer much. Seems to me that games using the Doom engine play too heavily on the 'realism' aspect (i.e. running slowly, not jumping high, et cetera). For me, I enjoy playing action game where I can get riddled with bullets and still stand up. Suspension of disbelief makes me not care whether I can really haul ass or jump like a jackrabbit. In fact, it adds that 'Hey, cool! I could never do this in reality!' factor for me.

If anything, I'd say they balance the game more rather than imbalance. This isn't a game of hide and seek. You have to use your brain to find people even more than Counter-Strike. Have you dueled extensively? You have to be smart to find your opponent as well as confuse your opponent on your location. If there was a dark rooftop with a camper holding a railgun, sniping off everyone, it would only be fair to make him glow in the dark. It doesn't effect the gameplay by much IMO.

I wish they'd quit Breaking the backwards compatibility.

I'm about 1/3 the way threw and if I install the patch I'mma lose all my progress oh well I guess I'll do it all again.

using the dark to hide ones presence is a tactic by making him a neonsign that tactic is effectivly removed aswell this allows hom to shoot opponetns that he previosly couldnt see at ranges he shouldnt be able to see them...

With brightskins you dont have to use your brain to find him hes there out in the open glowing brightly youd have the be blind to not see him...

i dont have quake 4 but brightskins sound a bit anonnying speacaly if your hidden using a railgun or somthing
