Default Multiple speaker support!!?

The demo seems to support 5.1 and 7.1 speakers.
Why is there not support for 6.1?
Its strange to see support for speakers(7.1) that don't exist !!

Well I know there are 7.1 sound cards but I haven't seen any 7.1 speakers.Audigy2(6.1) is far more popular than all of the 7.1 cards combined.
Anyway I expected there would be support for 6.1(audigy2,megaworks 6.1,ispire 6.1) since the game supports EAX Advanced.
No big deal but it is strange.

I've seen 7.1 speakers around the web, just don't remember where. They do exist, and the sound cards that support them exist.

Isn't 7.1 getting excessive? You only have 2 ears you know..

New from Creative: 21.1 support.

My 5.1 is fine for me

21.1.. rofl
Actually I would prefer a 21.7 speaker system. Those 7 subwoofers would make your face fall apart or something.

Hercules make a few 7.1 cards but they don't have any 7.1 speakers.

How is the support for 4.1 speakers? In EF1 it was quite good, but I couldn't say I noticed much in the demo. Does anyone know?

I ordered myself a game theatre 7.1 from Hercules, it's got a digital coax connection

Jimbeam, Wired Lamp Studios will not be doing something for Elite Fortress 2 since the old WLS team split up. Yet you can expect some stuff from me and a few other talented guys, I'm just not allowed to comment on it yet.

Unikorn, sorry to hear the old team split up.

I'll be looking forward to your stuffs. I enjoyed alot of it in the JK2 community. The CTF maps and the duelling maps.

Maybe we can have a little interview sometimes on your project. I work for www.ef2.jolt.co.uk and www.jk2.jolt.co.uk

4.1 is just 5.1 without the center channel. The center channel is emulated by producing sound from both the front left and right speakers. It sounds almost the same, so don't worry.

IMO, having more than 5.1 is rediculous. The sound I get from my 5.1 already blows my mind. It sounds better than my living room sound system. In the future, though, I'm looking forward to that 21.7 speaker system. Talk about surround sound.

Sorry for bumping-it was the perfect topic for this, but...

I have a SoundBlaster Audigy Gamer with 6.1 Creative Inspire speakers, and everything works great in their AC3 surround demo, with sound from all speakers.

In the EF2 demo, I have it on EAX-3 (autodetected) and 44000khz sampling rate, and there is no noise from the rear channels.

The speaker system is set on 5.1 upconvert to make a virtual rear channel, but still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Phil

Anyone got any ideas?

Another thing to add is A3D won't enable in Elite Force 1. It should, right? Being an Audigy...
