Hi all !
I have the same problem than MrSamuel : the game crashes when I load the smbc map (Manero's mutant lab, after its appartment.)
Any issue please ?

So, I know I'm quite late to the party here; the site itself seems to have been mostly abandoned and the activity is minimal at best. I guess that's the consequence of "premium, casual games", but that is not why I'm posting.

Whilst I don't use this site much, I do jump on every now and then to make use of some of the guides here, and this one has been very helpful, but as pretty much everyone, I too get the SMBC map error.

However, I have managed to find a solution for it too.

Basically, it crashes during precaching of certain sounds. Seems the sound code for the Steam version was revamped, and in the process the support for stereo sound files were borked... and incidentally, SMBC uses three of them. So, the solution was simple; convert them to mono, overwrite, now the map seems to work (but I have yet to finish it and the rest of the game to see if this occurs at other points).

I decided to upload a quick fix of these files. I'll try to find a better mirror, or even create a better "installer" for these, but for now, a RAR on Rapidshare will do. Just extract this to you SiN Steam folder (for most people that would be "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\<user name>\sin 1", without the quotes), and hit yes if it asks to overwrite.

EDIT: After now finishing the game, I have uncovered another bug. During the endgame cinematic (more specifically, 2 seconds into Blade saying "I don't know..." in front of the altar) the level bombs to console with a "Bad fov: 0.00000" message. I'm assuming something is attempting to set the field of view somewhere in either the script or from an entity in the map, but I've not been as lucky as to tracking down the error. :\

thanks guys, both of those links now are borked, actually only the first one is broken, the second one from you Leo is used up the 10 downloads for a premium account...can you re upload it ...??? thanks so much for helping with this, or can you tell me how to make those files mono? i own both versions of sin so can work from there.

Been too lazy to give this a try, it was hard enough to get this old Sin to work with Windows 10 and modern hardware :/

Funny thing, tried it but lost all my mod files, would have been happy to try server with bots, but nope, now just having some good memories from time when we all played a lot. Kamala's server was the best. But yes time goes by and games getting better and better. Sometimes i find myself reading old posts, like now. Have a good life everyone, it's great thing that this site is still up and running.
