Hi, I set my shader in game to stencile and now I got this really horrible shadow effect. Heres a pic and a specs of my computer.

My computer specs are:
Xtasy Geforce 4 Ti4600 128MB
Pentium 4 1.6
512 MB DDR SDRAM
80GB Memory

I get this too when I turn on Stencil shadows [img]/forums/images/icons/confused.gif[/img]

It's called self-shadowing, and it's a limitation of the Quake III technology for stencil shadows. Shadows from certain angles and certain distances will do that unfortunately.

awwww so this is a natural game effect? and all this time I was thinking it was my graphics card

I have the same card (GF4 Ti4600) as you, so perhaps it is our card. I don't see why they'd put in the option of stencil shadows if it looked like that on all graphics cards.

I have a Radeon 9000 pro and have the same thing so it's not just your card.

Just wondering, for EF1 does anyone know how to turn off shadows, considering there isn't an "advanced" graphics setting control area? Is there a console command? Thanks.

put this in the console:
cg_shadows 0
