![]() Attention Radeon 9700 owners! You need the latest Cayalyst drivers (v3.20) to run this demo. It may crash without them.

![]() "Wanted to swing this by some of the boards out here for all our radeon users.
Apparently for those with radeon's there is a fix for the demo locking up. Just set this: "C:\Program Files\EF2\EF2.exe" +set r_precompressed_textures 0 Hope you guys enjoy the demo!!" - Gary Buchanan, Ritual Entertainment Level Designer "Changing the in-game resolution to a setting unsupported by your video card might result in the inability to run the demo afterwards. To rectify this, manually delete the '*.cfg' file in the EF2 Demo game directory (by default is C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Elite Force II Single Player Demo\base)." - Activision Beta Tester How to enable the console: "C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek Elite Force II Single Player Demo\EF2.exe" +set developer 1 |

![]() We have noted on certain Hyper-Thread enabled P4's (Specifically the 3ghz ones) when they are combined with ATI Radeon 9700/9800 cards the game can crash. Even with the latest Catalyst 3.2 drivers.
This issue is not present with nVidia hardware. For the ATI equipped HT machines we recommend disabling Hyper-Threading in the Bios to play the demo. We have informed ATI of this and we are also looking into it from our end. |

![]() We have a solution for it in place now, but we are also working with ATI for them to resolve the issue with new drivers.

![]() I guess nVidia may not have the best FPS scores, but they sure were right when they say GeForce cards have the best out-of-box gaming experience. I'm an IT techie, but when it comes to toying with hardware settings to get something I bought to work right *cough*BF1942*cough* with my hardware it's unbearable. From now on I stay away from ATI video and C-Media sound. Now to sort out the IRQ issue with my new Audigy Gamer crashing EF1 and the EF2 demo, as well as Freelancer

![]() Have you fixed this, yet? I just had someone complain about the game crashing on the third level, and he has an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. I thought this would be fixed by the time the game was released.
Here's a link in case someone has the answer or wants more information: http://forums.eliteforce.com/index.p...f=16&t=738 |

![]() The 9700 and 9800 Pro work fine with EF2. Make sure you are running the latest drivers for your sound, video card, and the latest DirectX. Also make sure you defrag your hard disk. I had one in my machine for over two weeks right when we wrapped the game and it worked fine start to finish on the game many many times.

![]() PingEnvy.
How do I find which version of any programme I have? I used to know a command in "run" that would bring up a screen and tell you, but have forgotten it. To be honest when I look through my system stuff I don't really understand it so would like something simple please. Thanks. |

![]() You should visit the ATI site and get the latest driver for your video card. They are at www.ati.com. Try that first. The latest one came out just a few days ago.
