Default Bosses are cool, but...

How many of them will we have to face?

Is this really a Star Trek idea? I don't know if I would want to face more bosses than I did in EF1...there was the killer bot in dreadnought levels, the hirogen alpha in the scavenger levels, Foster-Borg in the Borg levels (sort of a Boss), and the final, real, bad and impossible Forge Boss, so that makes 4 bosses total in EF1.

I suppose that there are at least three ways to end a game level:

1) Massive final shootout with way more NPC's/enemies than previously faced (i.e. the Dreadnought ending, the Etherian ending)

2) Unique final mental challenge (interesting puzzle with major implications for the game's storyline)

3) Boss (the boss is usually mad like this: )

Which one is better? What other endings to a game level are possible?
