Default Release Date

In reply to:

My good pal, netcatch, whom I have never spoken to, has given us the heads up on a possible CS:CZ delay. He writes in that Amazon.com is now listing the release date as October, 1st 2003. Of course, the previous date was listed as May 2003, but we all know these dates really mean nothing by now and CZ will ship whenever it ships. Get on your ship and click this link to pre-order your copy of CS:CZ. Arg!

[/ QUOTE ] My birthday is in August. Can't you folks at Ritual release the game any sooner than October? Please try cuz I'm sick of playing the n00bz and the cheaterz and the h4x0rz in Counter-Strike, I'd rather play against the intelligent bots in CZ.

Until there's an official confirmation from Valve or Ritual, I would take this with a grain of salt.

I’m sorry to inform you that you Good Pal NetCatch, the guy you never spoke to, was killed in the face by a smoke grenade two weeks ago.
This clearly means Amazon.com was after his ass.

There isn’t much else I can say. When a good pal is killed so horribly in the face with a smoke canister aimed directly into his face like that one must wonder why we all live under the tyrannical grip that is AMAZON.COM!

In closing we must all hold our heads down in quiet prayer NetCatches innocent and crushed body is laid to rest in some unmarked grave in middle America. Thank you and I wish us all brighter happier days.

Wait .. What the hell is this “GET ON YOUR SHIP” thing?
IT MUST BE AN ENCODED MESSAGE!!!

USS SPEED HELP ME UNDERSTAND!!!!

eb lists the release date as 11/01/2003. amazon lists the release date as 10/01/2003. eb is selling CZ for $39.99. amazon is selling CZ for $34.99. which is the better deal?

We've checked back with the folks actually working on the game, and according to them, Condition Zero is still on track for a release in May.

I'm looking forward to this myself.
I have been slaving over a hot radiant for many years waiting for a chance to do something like this.
I humbly hope you will all enjoy playing through CZ.

"GameStop Price: $39.99. Pre-order Counter-Strike: Condition Zero from GameStop.com and receive FREE Trading Cards!"

I sent in a product inquiry to find out what type of trading cards they're bundling with the game. No response yet.

Also, PlayCentric.com has the Condition Zero minibox available for pre-order. The price is $36.42 and the release date is listed as Tuesday, May 06, 2003.

Hmm Condition Zero trading cards?
Counter Strike trading cards?

That’s insane! I wonder what that would be like. I could already imagine some kid yelling out to his mommy that he finally got the AWP card.
“It’s a 5 foot long sniper rifle designed to shoot through small buildings cars trucks planes forests and schools! It has 30 HP and can be called at any turn!” IM GOING TO USE MY PIKACHEW AGAINST IT!!!!
CHARMANDER GOT CAPPED WITH A DEAGLE LOLZ!!

*sigh*

I can imagine the outcry from parents who read the special abilities of "Creature - Terrorist" cards.

Do you have any more details on the trading cards, ie. how many will be released, will they come in booster packs or be sold individually or available exclusively as a pre-order bonus set?

By the way, we're less than 2 months away from Condition Zero and Elite Force II going gold!

It is short and sweet; GameSpy has published Counter-Strike: Condition-Zero release date for May 2003 rather than the previous Q2 2003. This is great news! There isn't any new information about gameplay, but they've added a few more screen shots. For everyone who hasn't pre-ordered CZ, follow this link. Thanks tonic_151!

[/ QUOTE ]
This is a pathetic news item at CS-Nation. First off, the May 2003 release date is old news. It never changed. Secondly, GameSpy is an even less credible source for release dates than retailers like EB. The screenshots were added a few years ago - they're way outdated (from Gearbox) and don't show the game Ritual is working on. And finally, the "follow this link" plug is a cheap effort at site fundraising (a little money on the side from referrals).

I do applaud their effort in raising awareness of CZ and encouraging visitors to purchase the game.

Update: CS-Nation realized their mistake and pulled the news item, following a barrage of disparaging comments fired off by me among others.

While "Halo 2" won't be released this year, Microsoft does have a few potential big titles in its online arsenal. "Project Gotham 2", the sequel to the million-plus selling launch title, will feature a multiplayer mode. And "Counter-Strike", which has been an enormous multiplayer hit in the PC world, is slated to make its Xbox debut this fall.

Both games should do well, but neither is expected to be a system driver, say analysts.

"Counter-Strike's good," said Mike Wallace of UBS Warburg, "but it's not Halo."

[/ QUOTE ]Excerpt from a CNN Money column piece about the future of Xbox Live.

CZ for the PC is on schedule to be completed in May and is slated for a Q2 release date. This leads me to think the fall release dates (Sept/Oct/Nov 1st) at several e-tailers may actually be the release date of CZ for the Xbox. For instance, EB lists the release date for CZ as 11/01/03 and for the hintbook as 06/01/03.

Since May is coming real soon, when is CZ coming out? Is it coming out late May or like early June?

Game hintbooks are sooo lame.

"Walk through the door and look to your right, push the button and shoot the enemies that try to jump into your panties".

*yawn*

Why not a story book in the 3rd person? "Blade struggled to shake off the mutants because time was running out. Using his LaserBubble 3000T he shot the control panel to short circuit the doors. Suddenly J.C.'s voice rang out over the intercom, "Uh... you shouldn't have done that Blade, I'm detecting large blips on the radar! You better find an escape route, preferably in the walls".
