Default CZ Status Report

It seems badman and Frightener are busy doing nothing, so I figure I would mention that the guys at Computer & Video Games have posted a Q&A with Valve Software's Erik Johnson about Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.

Anyhow, I've gotta post my write-up to save face.

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero is rapidly approaching beta status and the Q2 2003 release is "pretty well set in stone," says Erik Johnson, project manager at Valve. Computer & Video Games recently caught up with Erik to receive a status report on the highly anticipated first-person shooter. In this report, he tells us about what's in store for buyers of CZ. They will be getting roughly 20 missions that build a singleplayer experience set in the CS universe along with a high-definition pack (all-new higher res models and items) for the multiplayer side.

Erik also confirmed that an Xbox version of Condition Zero is in the works, although he did not reveal who's the developer. Here's the scoop on the new player models:
In reply to:

Johnson: There's a new terrorist, the Militiaman, and there's also the new Specnaz character for the counter-terrorists. There's a whole mission based around the Specnaz. We've tried to keep the art style pretty consistent but tried to make everything look a little better. It's very important that existing Counter-Strike players recognise who the characters are.

There's a bit of controversy surrounding the new CT character, the "Specnaz," as mentioned in the interview with Erik Johnson. Basically a lot of people assume that he mistyped the word. There's a Russian special forces unit called the "Spetsnaz." Which is the proper spelling in CZ?

New content is currently being written, a massive faq update is in the works, as well as many other goodies. Keep your grabbag empty and be ready to load up once we've finished a complete overhaul of the CZ section.

Send in those screenshots you had mentioned in another thread.

Friday night kicks off my weekly sleep marathon. My body has to recover from torture and abuse endured on a daily basis. Anyhow, check your inbox tomorrow morning for a plate of creamy oven-cooked onions and a few leftover pieces of eye candy.

I do believe Spetsnaz is the correct spelling.
