Default Punk busting

I think that the intention to implement some form of anti-cheating strategy in the form of STEAM et al (or so I have read) is one of the BEST ideas for CS-2. Cos in my humble opinion, it is the cheating that goes on online (be it aimbots/speedhacks/wallhacks etc) that REALLY spoils the experience for many players. If the developers can lick this problem, it will go a long way to enhancing online gaming experiences. Perhaps even set a standard for all other on-line FPS games.

Could anyone in the development team elaborate a little more on how CS-2 intends to eliminate cheating? Without giving too much away of course....:P

Thanks!

Ritual Entertainment isn't involved with the development of Steam or anti-cheat measures for Counter-Strike.

Valve is going to try to eliminate cheating with steam. Ever notice that cheating goes way down when a new release hits, like 1.4 and 1.5. With steam you will be getting constant updates. A new cheat will arise, and valve will make a way to detect it, and send you the update.
At least thats how its supposed to work. Only time will tell.

Know what I wish? That all you little nubs that have been playing cs for about half a year would stop calling EVERYONE who's better than yourselves, hackers. Yes, you do it, stfu, I've been banned from so many [censored] servers because of nubs like you guys. - The hacking problem? - isn't that big, I'm sorry guys, and where you really do see hacking and where it's a problem is in some of the competitive gaming.

First off, I hope you weren't directed at me. I was only speaking of Valve's strategy, not complaining.
But now that I have read your post I wonder if you considered that hacking is a problem also because it led to parinoia. Nobody can have skills anymore unless they hack to some people.
I was at a lan and two of my friends were incredible. They were going for headshots almost evertime and knew how to work each weapon just right. I was amazed, but not so surprized that they got kicked and banned all night long.
The origional poster was right that eliminating hacking would tremendously help online play. Imagine people's first thought being he's really good instead of he probably hacks.

From my experience, you're far more likely to run into cheaters on large public servers. The most common type of cheater is the wall hacker.

I must be the luckiest mother [censored] in the world then. In the past 6 months I've run into maybe? 5 guys who were wall hacking? That's a generous number. Most people say someone is a wall hacker when he hs's you through the wall. Where people stand behind a wall is very predictable most of the time, and that's where people get most of there "hacker" encounters.

In the past six months I have seen about two wallhackers, one speed hacker, and thats about it. I play cs 1.5 about everyday of my life (Show how much time I have got .), so there you have it. You ether really have bad luck, or false suspicions..............

I agree that only noobs say those people hack. And I agree with most other comments. But what i noticed that you guys seem to have not is that alot of admins are noobs. Kicking and banning resume.
