you know they can take down you ip, whois you, and call your isp.

might want to check your tos with your internet provider. you could suddenly... lose your internet access?

someone impersonated a mod in the hl2 forums the other day, they did this, and well.. he doesn't have internet anymore.

But Roobin they are not going to do that. Why would they go so far out of there way? And for what?

hahah, and wolf, for all you know I could be a nerd, no point saying otherwise. Funny though, I do spend several hours a day on my computer. LoL so if that makes me a nerd, I am. But I also get picked up by sexy girls, chill with what you wolf, would prob call "the popular asshole group"(the cool people). Oh yeah, and I'm also the type of nerd who's good at sports, a little above average looking, and most importantly, people like me, there are a few loners who don't, but I make friends easily. Do you? hahahaah don't worry you don't have to answer that, I already know the answer.

Wolf, grow up. It's the most asinine thing to insult someone about something you don't even know about. I can promise you I'm not some "nerd that stays on his pc all day long". For some reason, however, I have a hard time figuring you being past the age of 10, so I wouldn't beat the snot out of you even if I wanted to.

PFFFT!!!

well, you know, im not gonna even read all your posts because it is a waste of time, first of all, cheating is NOT illegal, it is NOT abusive of ANYONE, if they wanted they could kick me any time from any server......
they have no right to take my ISP away, and they wont, since my family pays 50 bucks a month for it, they CANT ban me from CZ (i have my ways), and i never hacked in the game with me and the n00b (kevin).....

so STFU and keep typing on how you hate hackers, its really not my problem when you could be out playing...

Would you be willing to bet on any of those claims? Read the agreement you made when you installed the game, bud.

cheating is not illegal idd, but hacking is!!!!

All CS cheats are hacks, except for admin_god and such.but wallHACK, aimbot(hack) are idd illegal.

If you would do that on a lan, you'll prolly end up without a working PC.

i need to answer this blatant misuse of the word 'hack'. wallhacks, etc, were given that as a nickname. so long as it doesn't violate copyright laws (ie registration cracks) it is not illegal to modify programs on your computer (ie cheats).

i was simply stating that somehow this could be against his isp terms of service.

rootbin, I'm not too sure if you are saying it's legal to use hacks. But anyways, for every person who ever thought it was ok for people to hack online, you;'re an idiot, as long as someone is hacking on someone else's server (ie. a server someone else is letting the hacker use) and the server prohibits hack, it is in no way ok to hack. It's ok to hack your own games on your own computer/server, but once you play on another server that is not your own, you have to listen to their rules. Just like whichever country you are in, you haev to obey their laws, and not the laws of your own country.

idd, you hack into the gameserver, you get information you shouldn't have.

Dno where you from but here, hacking into servers, of any kind is illegal. Once I was on a LAN and there was a hacker... the organisation called the police, they removed that player from the LAN and forbid him from going to any lan for 2 years or something.

^^^was he HACKING into there computers? or was he just using some downloaded hack?

cuz if he was only using some wall hack or something then having the police come in seems a lil too extreme...i would say just kicking him out of the lan place and forbidding him never go come back not have a cop come out and read him his rights...

but if u was actually hacking into files and stuff then ya that would make sense...thats like breaking into a house and stealing the tv

I think your getting things confused. Like rootbin said, hacking is just a nickname. You keep saying being "illegal" then being "ok" like they mean the same thing. Hacking on a server that prohibits it is not ok but its not illegal. I by no way am siding with you wolf....you're the reason i stopped playing cs for a six month period.
Also that story is probably a little different than it sounds. He might have been hacking into the computer at the lan or the server (ie. actual hacking) the only other way i see it is if its because he downloaded the hack files and installed them on the computer breaking some agreement with the lan but that would be a harsh punishment calling the cops.

rootbin -- you made an agreement when you installed the game on your computer. I recommend you read that full agreement. If you use hacks, then they have the right to ban, sue, whatever. Game companies have already started doing it, because it's ILLEGAL since you agreed to it when you first installed the game.

Do I think Valve will do it? Probably not. But they could.
