Default Condition Zero

I was just wondering in the 1.6/1.7 patch if there was only going to be that one new map (de_airstrip) and the remakes of a couple levels. And if so how will the CS 1.6 people play on the maps that CZ multiplayer will have. Will they just be able to download the map from the server?

If it's a cs multiplayer map - everyone will get it, everyone.

people that don't purchase a copy of CZ will not be getting the new multiplayer content that comes in the box along with CZ. so no, they won't get the 10 new levels through a server download.

If you're talking to Kalabalana, then he was not "pwned". He said if there's a CS map you have you can play it on CZ. kanaeda said that not all CZ maps are on CS. Two different topics... I'm not sure which the topic starter was asking, but (s)he got the answer.

Everything that will be cs multiplayer will be available to everyone, through legitimate, or illegitimate means. This is what I meant to say originally...

while i would love to say otherwise, we all face the honest truth. in that regard, at least the kick-ass work that was done at ritual will make it's way to the masses one way or another.

lol that was my point originally, but yeah the work will be even more likely to be spread to the masses becasue cs is a mod, and people feel anything for cs multiplayer is free. Myself included, yeah I guess I'm an ass then

I doubt the CZ maps will be widely available because they won't be mirrored by major fan sites like CS-Nation. Isn't it possible for Ritual/Valve to modify the CZ maps and prevent them from running on the standard HL engine?

This is a bit off-topic, but where are you guys in Dallas, kanaeda? I've never seen your building.

Your not going to drive by and see a huge Ritual Entertainment sign on the side of the building. Most of these development places are in suites so you would never know. I chilled at the Treyarch offices in Santa Monica (Spider Man series, Tony Hawk 2x, Kelly Slater)....nice suite right off the beach, but you would never guess they were there.

Yeah, I saw they're in North Texas, too, never actually seen any development studios here, but there are supposed to be alot.

There are so many good Texas-based studios... Ritual, Treyarch, Retro Studios (Metroid Prime, near Austin, though), Gearbox (a bit of a slump with Nightfire), and a ton more... I can't believe I haven't seen one yet.

Ya there are alot and i dont mean to be a dick but, I was talking about Treyarch in Santa Monica, CA not Texas and cmon man you forgot the big one....ID Software is in Dallas, Doom 3 will rock.
Off topic but I wonder if anyone agrees with me. I have the Doom 3 demo and saw Half-Life 2 at e3 and i have to say I really cant wait for HL2 and Im not as up in arms about Doom 3. Graphics are great and i think alot of companys will be using the D3 engine to make great games, but Half-Life 2 is promising so much more.

Yeah, I just remembered that when I was posting. Can't believe I put Treyarch in there. I know Santa Monica is in Cali, I'm not that dumb, really. lol... I liked their work on NHL 2KX (I forgot which one it was), though.

And, I agree about Doom III. I'm really not looking forward to it. As someone once said "Is someone going to make a game with the Doom III engine?" It just doesn't look that great to me. Half-Life 2 looks fun. To be honest, Doom III doesn't.

yeah, I have the alpha for doom 3, it's pretty good, but it still has kiddish graphics where the humans and guns look kinda fisher pricey, you know like windows xp's default set up. But they did a great job on the monsters in doom 3, very scary, and the animations are amazing. But, haha, half-life 2 has them beat in every regard. The physics engine, omg, everything has the physics engine applied to it, that alone just makes it so amazing to me (I'm a programmer), the graphics are amazing too, and I mean [censored] IT PLAYS LIKE THE HALF LIFE WE KNOW AND LOVE? Not some doom crap - pffft. Plus the amazing story line we can expect, plus all the small polished things, like the elliptical eyes, 40 simulated facial muscles, plus the mods we will see, and the improvements on the mods we already love. Oh man, I want cz, but HALF-LIFE 2 OMG
