Default Multiplayer questions.

Ok with CZ multiplayer will it just be 1.6 with better sound and models. I mean like will 1.6 and CZ coincide (however you spell it) with each other. And to anyone that has a CS 1.5 server like me how will we have to update it to support CZ if 1.6 and CZ go together with each other?

CZ and 1.6 will coincide. You will update your server just like you did for 1.4 to 1.5.
My question is, I heard the modified engine being used in cz supports higher res textures and such. Will the improvements to multiplayer just be the improved sound, weapon, and player models, or will those cz exclusive maps have the high res textures and other updates for the cz engine?

This i do know I think. the 10 new multi player maps will not work with 1.6. Now when we get out server updated will it be like one patch that will patch it for the 1.6 and 1.7 or what?

CZ and CS 1.6 will be completely compatible with one another, on all CS maps (that run on 1.6). CZ-specific maps, however, will not run on CS 1.6 (at least, that's what Ritual has said, but people will probably port them). The only difference is that CZ will look better [img]/forums/images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

idd, all enhacements to hl engine in CZ will be done in 1.6 or 1.7

Nah, they said that CZ will look better than CS and that is one of the selling-points.

whats the mimimum video card req. for cz. my friend has a onboard graphics chipset. will that chipset work on cz? now as for me i got a geforce4mx440 and that will work. no doubt about it. [img]/forums/images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

You'll be able to run it.

If your friend can run CS he will probably be able to run CZ. What kind of framerate does he get?

how long will it be really before those 10 maps are hacked for 1.6 though? Not long. Either way, the public is getting those 10 maps. By not releasing them to the masses, I can only see a lose lose situation.

Ya but if the 10 exclusive maps have high res textures or a high poly count while keeping low r_speeds then it will still be alot better on cz. They could probably get it in hammer and change textures and poly counts to get it to run well for the masses but it will still look way better on cz. Thats what I hope will happen to keep sales up and make me enjoy my cz.

I said hl engine enhancements.
idd better models and sounds will only be in CZ, but the engine has to be the same for both games.

nope....the update for 1.6 wont change the game engine, it'll still be the same half-life one. CZ will be compatable with 1.6 though, but it will be a modified hl engine.

How is that a lose-lose situation? At least there will be that sway to get it in the first place.

And, it may actually be a while. It wouldn't be hacking, it'd be porting.

Why dont they just make new maps that look EXACTLY like the exclusive ones and make them available both for CZ and 1.6??
i mean thats basically what they are doing for the shared maps....

I don't understand what you're saying. Make new maps that look exactly like the exclusive CZ ones and make them available to both CZ and CS 1.6? What would the point of that be? You have to have a selling point for your game, that's just an added plus. People will eventually port them.

And, what shared maps? They're just including the original CS ones, if that's what you mean. It only makes sense to add those to the package, why leave out things from CS?

i mean make a NEW map
that map will look exactly like one of the CZ exclusive maps
that map will also be compatible with Counter Strike 1.6...
do you get what im saying?

Ah, gotcha. That'd be pretty much the same as porting it, which someone I'm sure will eventually do.

NO? I tought the new particle effects in the latest beta (the rain and mist in aztec) are engine changes ^^ ?

ok.....put it this way.....the engine changes in cz that allow higher poly counts in weapons, models, maps, and the high res textures will not be made to the hl engine in the 1.6 update.

you would need to make 2 versions of everything, if you want it to be on both 1.6 and CZ

there are very few engine changes that are not shared between both CZ and CS, seeing that they both have to use the same engine in order for multi-player compatability to work. the only ones i can think of are strictly used in the single-player side of the game and reside in the CZero dll as oppsed to the core HL dll.
