Default Complete list of server commands / variables

Hi folks,

Does anyone have a full list of ef2's server commands?
Or is there a way to list them?

I tried cvarlist and cmdlist but they didn't list all commands.

MOST OF THESE DO NOT WORK!!!! RITUAL MAULED THE Q3 ENGINE SO MUCH THAT PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THE NORMAL CVARS ARE IN SHAMBLES.... RIGHT ON RITUAL!!!!

Yep.. it's almost a completely new CVAR List. Doesn't even feel like the Q3A Engine anymore either... This is why us admins are having so many problems getting our servers online. I have servers for 4 games... EF, JK2, SOF2, and Q3A... NONE of the cvars for any of the games BOD Clan hosts gave me more trouble then EF2... I'm still trying to get a workable server config going...

BTW, if anyone knows the CVAR to disable the horizonal YAW (I think it's called that...) PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! SIDESTEPPING IN EF2 MAKES ME SEA SICK...!!!

Thanx Rahl.. but, its not the bobbing.. I saw that one... But you know when you side step left to right? The whole map swings from one side to another, and it REALLY is distracting. It's SOOOO easy to loose your bearing on a target in this game. The swing looks like the map is on a row boat. Try side stepping quickly from left to right, and look at the horizon of the map. After a while, it should make you sick.. lol...

I know about the bobbing.. the bobbing in EF1 never was an issue. But it's the swinging up and down when you side step that's really getting to me...

that side step lean is normally called "roll" and according to activision it can`t (and probably won`t be) changed ...which I think is very bad of them and ritual, since it`s giving several people (including myself) some degree of motion sickness.

me being a mod maker and suffering from this in first person shooters, I`ve studied why this happens in video games and according to doctors it`s a legitimate medical condition (as opposed to some psychosomatic illness) and despite only affecting a small percentage of overall players, any considerate minded developers would include an option to have it turned off if players turn off forward bobbing (pitch)

I really like the design of maps, textures, models and general gameplay in ef2, but I`m probably not going to bother modding this game in the future, as I too am disappointed with the mess ritual have made of the q3 engine.

yeah it looks nice, but so does games like sof2 and jk2 and those mainly use standard q3 cvars and I get a better fr running jk2 on my system, so it`s not like ef2 is much more powerful... I wish ritual had only changed what they really needed to in the engine.

I totally agree... The game would be allot better to handle if we could just shut this feature off...

I actually know several players affected by the motion of video games. Some would love to play with me online, but things like motion sickness and vertigo is actually more common then people think...

I tend to agree. I'm also a mapper for EF. I plan on releasing a map for EF this Friday on the 4th. I was planning on converting not only my latest map, but all of my maps to the EF2 Format. But, seeing as how they completely decimated the Q3 Engine, not to mention the new texture format they are using called *.dds files... , I'm strongly considering what I want to do with my mapping projects, present and future. I can't say I blame you Ratty...

Are you listening Ritual? I hope you are... Server Admins, Modders, and Mappers are what keep these games interesting for the public for years to come... It would be nice if we could have all of our concerns answered in a 1.1 patch.

A general Survey would be allot easier to collect info for a patch then browsing the forums looking for issues... I wouldn't mind filling out a form, for submission to Ritual, for wishlist issues concerning a 1.1 patch... thanx BOD_ANGEL and I also agree an official type general survey thread or page would be a good idea.

thing is BOD_ANGEL, as you probably know there are some over inflated ego`s in the industry (and to a lesser degree) the mod community, so I know some of our advise will be simply ignored cus we`re being outspoken (even if being constructively critical)

but I do understand how I personally can get on the nerves of developers, mod makers and other players, since despite only being a little ratty, I have a planet sized ego

and I have too much respect for my little nose to be sticking it up the backsides of publishers or developers, just cus they are big "names" ...no, if they want that from me, they better design and release a game I can`t find fault with, lol

seriously though, I know when my maps, tex or concept designs have been critiqued by my team mates, beta testers, or players in the past, I sometimes say "it`s not a bug, it`s a design feature" ...but if Iagree there is room for improvement (which I do about 70% of the time) then I`ll seriously look into fixing things, but then I`m a perfectionist so once I know there is a fault in my work, I can`t just leave it there if I can do something about it.

as for your project work BOD_ANGEL, if your at a loss what to do when you finish your ef1 maps, you might consider coming to work on my small mod team (we`d obviously have to check each others work out, so we know we`d not be wasting our time teaming up with someone, a lot less skilled then us)

as for what my project is, it`s intended to be a demo for a full title sci-fi game we`ve been designing, kinda like a cross between rtcw (where my team are currently based) and sci-fi games like jk2 and ef1 and 2.

we don`t have a character modeler or coder yet (although my coder buddy from my heretic2 days is seriously considering working on my latest project) and we still have a ton of mapping, models and tex to make (we`re making all our own which is a slow process as I`m sure you can imagine) ...but we think we`re up to a professional level (design and looks wise) although still learning the q3 engine in some technical areas.

one of the main reasons why I`m doing this project and not just working for one of the established teams (although I did apply to work for raven a few yrs ago, but didn`t want to move to the usa and I wanted to work from home, not an office) ...is that designing and building my own game is the closest chance, I think I`ll ever see to a game that I can`t complain about (and see nothing being fixed) since if I find fault in my own game, I can at least try to get things fixed

it`s for those reasons and not the pound or dollar signs I`m determined to become a "professional" although earning a living by doing something I do as a hobby would be cool

oh and I must point out, the main part of my game we`ve been concept designing (general theme, artistic style and gameplay) is the sp to begin with, but once our demo is done and we show our contacts in the industry (not activision thank god) then we`ll work on the mp.

and the game will never likely be a hard core gamers type shooter as we`re more interested in strategy and objective type missions (like rtcw has) then frantic deathmatch type shooting, although there may be some game mode we add in, where players can just let of steam and run around fragging each other.

np at all if your not interested man, but if this wets your appetite and you want to know more (within reason) then feel free to pm (private message) me here ...that is if ritualistic haven`t banned ratty, for dissing activision or ritual or pimping my own project, lol

BOD_ANGEL. thanx and I read it and will email you a reply later tonight... I have to first set up my firewall so I can go have a peep at your site, but I`ll take into account what you said about your new map due out soon

it`s also nice to know I`m not pissing off too many people on these boards, I know I can be a little vermin at times

hmmm, I`m only getting a blank page at your site even if I turn my (norton) firewall off... does your site use flash or something, cus I`m sorry I don`t have any IE 6 plugins (partly cus I`m only on 56k)

is there another page you could give me a link to which might work? failing that do you have any ftp space? cus I could dl some of your work (preferably zipped up) via a temp ftp folder.

Actually, 07030.com is nearly 100% Flash, with the exception of the news area, which is PHP... the php section is http://portal.07030.com . But, you won't see much there that hasn't already been done...

My site is 56k compliant. Maybe you just need the plugin for flash. It's really quite tiny, and you won't be sorry when you see the site. I can assure you of that... Lots of people love to stop by my site just to play with it... lol

And I don't have a public FTP...

k, the portal link you gave me works fine, although I might try out this flash thing so I can see your site (probably won`t be today though)

and I found a link in your index.

is that a good place to see screen shots or dl your older maps?

thanx BOD_ANGEL, and I`ll check these out properly tomorrow and get back to you... I`m turing in now, plus I`ve been talking today to a wolf mapper (from the community I`m currently based in) ...about also possibly teaming up with me, so between you two there is a lot to look at and disscuss.

but from the quick look I`ve just had at your latest map screen shots, you definitely show potential... although I would like to see the odd source .map if at all possible? (I use gtk in wolf so it`d just be the brushes and patches I`d want a closer look at) to see how neat your work is ...I`m a perfectionist

Angel, I just emailed you man, hope you get it

no urgency in replying, I`d rather you took your time and thought about what I said then we rush into anything... but I am looking forward to hearing from you when I do

and good luck with your map release on friday, I know that date is special to americans, so I can imagine it`s even more exciting if you also release some of your work, and this is another reason I don`t mind not hearing form you for a few days if need be.
