Default Half-Life 2 out soon!

No, wait...I meant Half-Life 2 delayed for months. Read:

PARIS (Reuters) - The theft of part of its source code has delayed until April 2004 the launch of "Half Life II," the hotly anticipated alien-hunting game of Vivendi Universal Games, a company official said.
You can read about it on everyone's favourite unbiased international news website CNN.

Suckers!

I'm surprised that in my usual travels I have stumbled upon no less than 8 different repacked copies of the code.
Who is really that interested, go outside and get some fresh air damn it !

Considering people still download Windows 1.0 or MS-DOS source code, it should not be a suprise people download Half-Life 2 sourcecode.

kaay.... rewriting the code how?
If they knew how to cover possible exploits in the first place, why not code them in from the start.
This whole delay thing is publishing bullshit to deter future attempts to steal / leak code. Me? I don't give a rats ass, XIII is out in 3 weeks !

soon the net will be swamped with source engine games. Divine Justice. Call it what you must, apparently someone thought to punish Valve for once again crushing our lowly pathetic hearts with another delay. tsk tsk, if only they had released the game on time.

I feel happy and sad about Valve's misfortunes over the past few weeks. Happy because Valve had it coming for lying to the community about the release date (karma ) and wasting the time of so many talented game developers on CZ. Sad because I don't support the actions of those hackers who broke into Valve's network, stole their unfinished products and gave the products away for free on the internet. I wouldn't want that to happen to me if I were in Gabe N's position or if I had spent time working on one of those products and my livelihood would be affected by its success.

Valve was chastised, nothing overly wrong about it, from what the hacker has said (I believe the hacker, so far he hasn't lied) Valve has had the game done, polished, and ready to go, but are delaying to maximise their profits. As for Valve "wasting" 4 developers time, no, no they didn't, the developers were fully paid.
As for talent, talk to someone you personally know and ask about the source engine code, I was sorely disappointed. The Havoc engine is genius through and through, the source engine pales in comparison, and at times, does some very odd things. (NB I do not know the hacker, have any idea who he is, and what I said about the code came from a programmer from my univ who excels in c++ and was laughing at a lot of valve's code) I'm not laughing though, kinda disappointed.
