Default SiN Episodes Blog: Holograms?

The official SiN Episodes blog has been updated with news that Emergence is nearing the finish line and pre-production work on the second episode is gearing up.

Tom Mustaine also posts word that SiN Episodes has the honour of being the first game to run content through IO2technology's futuristic 'Heliodisplay', which projects a computer's display output into mid-air. To see the results, a video showing game characters Jessica Cannon, Elexis Sinclaire and JC has been attached to the blog post, which offers an exciting glimpse into the possible future of computer gaming. Check it out immediatley!

I have a question, is the reason the image is flickering alot because of the lower frame rate that the video plays at compared to the display? Or is it just something to do with the way the display works?

I saw the original footage that the video was sourced off of, and it looks like it's because of how the display works. While it may not videotape well, I've been told that it looks amazing in person.

More like less than 10 years time. Just look how fast we've advanced over the last 10 years, progress almost always increases in speed.

That looks amazing.

Is this a true hologram? Does it parallax at all? It looks like it's an image projected on a sheet of some sort of mist. Is this the basic technology?

There's information on the technology available on IO2technology's website: http://www.io2technology.com/technology/overview

It sounds like they have the machine projecting a 2d image on an ionized stream of air.

That is WILD! Question for those who saw it that thing in action was it really that wavy? Or did the camera refresh rate too fast? Cause monitors do that, just wondering if it was the video or not. I bet it's you can enchance it too with a little bit of smoke!
