Default Death to Jessica

Who here thinks Jessica should die?. . .

ok, my point is that she is invincible, at least that is what I read somewhere.

Quote:
Throughout the game, Jessica will pop in and out to help you, much like Gordon Freeman's sidekick from Half-Life 2, Alyx, managed to do. It's hard not to draw a parallel between these two chicks, but since Alyx was a great character that you never had to be worried about (since she couldn't die), for most this should be a good comparison to make. Jessica carries around a submachine gun and is an effective combatant, and like Alyx she can't die or screw you up - she's only there to help, and she does a good job of taking out bad guys alongside you.
- Telefragged
So why can't she die? If I shoot my friendlies I want them to get hurt. I also want them to abide by the same rules I have to in the game.

Personally I would say if she died then I should still be able to continue the game, with out her. I realize this is not feazable yet. As an new set of outcomes would have to be made at every point where she could die.

I also understand that developers don't want to piss of the gamer by making them look after their comerads. So I say why not add something else to the dynamic difficulty system.

As I really don't want to make suggestions to a game I haven't played yet I will leave it at that.

well, sort of. I think that the dynamic difficulty could be put to use here. Or maybe an option (friendly death). But it isn't that important to me, I just found it annoying in HL 2 shooting friendlies and no one taking notice.

They all use cheats you see, they have /god on all the time. Most games have /god characters in, despite them being nowhere near godlike or deserving of it. If you don't like it, wait for Garry's mod to go up a version or spawn them without /god via console.

Yeah, I had a few cases where Alyx/Barney died in HL2. They took a hell of a beating (and me not paying attention) but they could die.

I really enjoy friendly fire and npcs that can die in battle. Otherwise I don't pay attention during battle and don't care if they are getting gunned down from above. I do admit I hate npcs that run out and die easily but a balance could be struck I'm sure. It would seem only proper if my poorly aimed grenade that landed in jessica's lap EXPLODED her.

Which brings us to another point,

Will NPCs take advantage of healing devices if injured?

I think a great easter egg would be if you type god in the console, God Comes and then Strikes you down! lmao

Jessica is far too interesting a character to just kill off. It would be a crime to kill her, even if she is just a computer program, that doesn't mean she doesn't have a soul.

if theres one thing i cant stand in games, its bloody escort missions.. of any kind. If friendly NPCs want to use god mode then that is absolutely fine by me :P

Or some silly protect-this-object/person while waves of enemies are storming the place. Godlike NPC's are just one worry less for me so more focus on the fun part of the gameplay. Shooting.

Because Ritual wants to make that decission? In my opinion, the only two eternal factors in Sin are Blade and Elexis. The rest is cannonfodder. Making a sidekick die somewhere along the story keeps it interesting.

We-ell... it's not as though her dying isn't a possibility. It's just fairly obvious that you wouldn't be able to complete the episode without her - so you'd get a "You [censored] up, son" message la Half-Life / Half-Life 2. Remember those? When you let a scientist or something die? Yeah, those.
