Default Community stuttering patch feedback

I just thought I make a new thread for us testing guys

First off: the "stuttering" is on my system now much better than before, but there are still some slowdown parts in some maps. I took several screenshots for these parts. (not you have to look at them on full resolution to see the FPS display):

My system:
Intel D830 (3 GHZ) Dual-Core cpu
2 GB Ram
MSI GeForce 6800 GT (256 MB)
Soundblaster Live Audigy 4

I play Emergence @1280x1024 maximum details with antialasing 2x, filtering @ 4x ansitropic

I know this might sound silly, but what size is your page file and your defrag situation.

Those are actually really good framerates still, for those areas. If those are the worst your framerates go, I'd say the patch works.

Page file is about 2 gigs.
Defrag situation: I never defrag. Seriously, this has not much effect on games at all.

@Parnic
Yes, these are the minimum frame rates I got in these situation. And yeah, these sound "lags" I got before are history now.

Sounds good. I'm still waiting to hear from a couple of other people before I say "yea verily" on the fix.

By the way, remember to follow the uninstall directions before the patch comes out.

I would disagree with saying that defragging doesn't help, but that's just me. If it doesn't work for you, then no reason to use it .

I will run the Windows XP defrag tool tomorrow when I'm at the university and hope that it will be finished with my 200 GB harddisk when I'm back. But I guess this would just improve the framerate to 0.5-2 fps more

There are a lot of people who doubt it, myself I find it's easily noticable, not necessarily much on game performance but load times definately.

The XP defragger does omit certain data from being defragged, by the way...but I'll not bother going into that right now

It's 5:30pm.....good time to go to sleep eh

Hey can I get this patch too? I'm getting stutter mostly in the intro sequence and in the beginning of each level load. I can live with it, and it's no worse than HL2's so I've not complained.

defragging wont change your FPS thats not why we do it, It WILL however make a HUGE difference to your load times and HD thrashing.

If you do it as part of your general cleanup process it only take a few minutes.
