Default Need help with texture curruption. (Could be more related to DirectX.)

Hi.
I'm facing texture curruption after I downloaded 1.4 patch.
Have a quick look at the screen shot.

The 3D model (Elexsis) looks in right shape but all texutres currupt
completely.

This happend like as follows

1. I started Steam and downloading patch 1.4.
2. Completed download, but I went to bed.
3. Next day, I played Dungeon Siege 2 for a while then started Sin:E for the first time after the patch and found textures were corrupted.
4. After it happened, all of my 3D programs become corrupted. Dungeon Siege2, Flight Simulator, 3D-modeling program.
5. Also, videos in WMV format started working wrongly. It shows full of corrupt images, too.

I tried some driver re-installations and tweaking like below but none of
them helped

1. Uninstall all nVidia drivers (nForce chipset and graphics), and reinstall latest version.
2. Also tried older driver software (v81, v85)none of them worked.
2. Reinstall newest DirectX.
3. Change texture settings of driver with RivaTuner then reset to
default.

My rig is

AMD64x2 +3800 (AMD dual core optimizer installed)
nForce4 Chipset (nVida newet driver. Factory default.)
1024MB of DDR-400 dual
WindowsXP SP2
Asus GeForce6600GT (nVida newet driver. Factory default.)
All in Japanese localized language version.

This may be related DirectX but it looks Sin:E triggered it.
I tried all what I think I should so far. If there is anything to worth
trying, please let me know.
Sorry my lousy English. I hope I could tell all what I wanted to tell.

Regards

Daisuke

Try to run the game with this parameter: -dxlevel 80

Can you please go to Start / Run, type DXDIAG, press Enter. Click Save All Information, save the log and copy and paste the data into here.

Cheers

Hi.
Thank you for the quick responce.

wisecode:
The option did not work, I'm afraid.

Sarkie:
Here is the link to the DxDiag.txt

I have solved lots of trubles relate to both software and hardware. But this one is very unique. I really don't have any clue.

Well try Right Clicking, Properties, and Click the Verify Cache button and see what happens.

Maybe your card has gotten over heated and damaged itself :S

I am nearly positive Sin:E couldn't have corrupted all your other games.

Cheers

About hardware, it may got over heated. But my rig is water cooled and usually less than 60 degree, both CPU and GPU, even in summer.

Starnge is that when I uninstall all the nVidia driver stuffs, the video plays correctly.
And also, I found that flight simulator (a DirectX7 application) works correctly if it is put to the background. See the pic below.

When in foreground:

When in background:

It works when in back ground but the image becomes jaggy and the texture filterling is lost. So, I doubt it is the driver issue, not the hardware.
Perhaps Sin:E changed some driver settings that is globaly affect 3D applications, I guess.

May be I need to full re-install of the OS

what motherboard have you got?

Try uninstalling ALL Nvidia drivers, including Nforce,

then install Nvidia Driver 91.31 and test

then install Nforce4 (Make sure you have right type) and test.

Cheers

Are you using RivaTuner and any other 3rd party stuff, if you are uninstall.

I got Gigabyte GA-K8NMF-9

I have already tried uninstalling ALL Nvidia drivers for 3 times.
Without all Nvidia stuffs, videos play OK but Sin:E doesn't work, showing a warning message that the shaders can not be found.

But last time I installed Nforce4 first then GeFroce.
I'll try 91.31 first and see tonight.

The last time I encountered this issue, the card was overheating. You may want to check to see if the fan on your video card is still working.

Thank you for your responce, Michael.
My rig is water cooled and the VGA is too. The temperture log shows around slightly above 60 degree celcius for the VGA core. That's not quite high, I think.

I tried uninstalling all the nVidia drivers as Sarkie suggested. Also I used DriverCleaner to completely remove remaining files.
Then, installed VGA driver first and saw if it worked Ok but no luck as the result.

Now I'm thinking to prepare a new hard drive and build a fresh environment to see if it is hadware problem or software problem.
I relly hope it's software related... A new VGA is pricy for me...

OK. The problem located.
My 6600GT is DEAD...

In freash OS, 6600GT still shows crrupted textures.
I replaced it to good-old MX440-PCI and DxDiag test worked fine.
I'll grab my money and get 7600GS tomorrow...

Thank you for the help to all.

Sorry to hear that it died, but glad you were able to find the cause.
