Default Hammer Crashes

Everytime I try to start a new map or open one of the supplied Arena maps, Hammer crashes. I've reinstalled the SDK, ran Emergence before starting up the SDK, deleted the sdk folders, reinstalled the sdk, rinse, repeat.

Can you post your DXDIAG information?

Did you run "SiN Episodes" after downloading the SDK?

Sorry, long day.

The only times that I've had Hammer act in that way is when I was running Hammer after "SiN Episodes" crashed because of a driver issues.

A reboot fixed it, but that's besides the point.

In your sinepisodessdk folder, do you have any .mdmp files?

Do either of you have Half-Life 2? If so, can you run Hammer from the Source SDK and see if you have the same problem?

Just FYI, I dont think the latest patch was supposed to fix anything SDK related but, Hammer still does crash... but Model Viewer and Face Poser work perfectly.
I remember Hammer acting like this when Valve had the Beta SDK out to the public, and everytime i tried to revert, it crashed just like this.

I wish I could give you more specific information to help fix the problem

I'm trying to get an X800 XT so I can try to reproduce it. I've got an X700 in my box right now, but that's obviously not close enough.

Blitzy,

After putting an X800 XT into my machine, I was able to get the crash to reproduce, but after uninstalling all of my ATI drivers and installing the latest Catalyst 6.7 drivers, the crash went away.

Wow, I never expected you to go as far as you have in trying to help! I'm impressed.

Anyway, I uninstalled ATI drivers, deleted all stray driver files via Driver Cleaner Pro running in Safe Mode and then installed the 6.7 Catalyst.

I still get the same crashing. :\

Do you still not have any crash dumps? The only way I was able to reproduce this crash was with whacked-out drivers, unfortunately.

From the Game Launcher:
1) Right-click on Sin Episodes SDK
2) Click on Properties
3) Local Files tab
4) Verify Integrity of tool cache
5) Defragment cache files

Launch the SDK then click on both utilities, Refresh SDK Content and Reset Game Configurations.

I'll keep seeing if I can find a way to reproduce it so we can kill it, but at the moment, I'm at a loss. I'm sorry.

I have the same problem, and the HL2 sdk works.
Made a DxDiag file:

But my Laptop can run hammer in the sinep sdk!
